NHL Shot Prop Picks, Predictions for Thursday: Connor to Feast on Ducks
Last Updated: November 17, 2022 5:37 AM EST • 1 min 31 sec read.
Struggling Winnipeg Jets winger Kyle Connor draws a slump-busting matchup against the Anaheim Ducks, and he headlines our top shot-prop picks from the 13 NHL games on Thursday.
It’s a busy night on the ice with 26 teams in play and a number of soft matchups to target. The following three picks continue the trend of backing high-volume shooters in offensive roles.
Here are our top NHL shot-prop picks for Thursday (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).
Top NHL Shot Prop Picks for Thursday
NHL Shot Prop Predictions
Connor Over 3.5 (-115 via FanDuel) ★★★★
Connor broke out last season with 47 goals and 317 shots – both career-high marks. The heater hasn’t carried over, and he’s found the back of the net only twice through 14 contests this year. His shot attempts per 60 minutes (18.9) are actually up from last season’s 17.4 mark, though.
I envision Connor’s shot volume to remain high Thursday, as he looks to kick his goal-scoring slump. This is also an incredibly soft matchup with the Ducks, who are allowing the fourth-most attempts and most shots per 60 minutes in the league.
Forsberg Over 3.5 (+100 via DraftKings) ★★★
With a favorable home matchup against the New York Islanders, I like Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg to clear this 3.5-shot total for the first time in four games. He’s pacing the Preds in both shots and attempts per 60 minutes, and the Islanders have surrendered the fifth-most shot attempts per 60.
Forsberg had 11 attempts failing to register as shots during the noted four-game stretch. The volume and top offensive role are there, so he just needs to hit the net more consistently Thursday.
Hoffman Over 2.5 (+105 via DraftKings) ★★★
Montreal Canadiens winger Mike Hoffman has registered three shots or more in seven of his past nine games, and the Columbus Blue Jackets are another team to target in this betting market. The Blue Jackets are missing a number of key players due to injuries, and they allow the second-most shots and attempts per 60 minutes in the league.
Just note, though Hoffman does skate with the No. 2 power-play unit, he’s averaged just 14:06 of ice time per game this season.
