Despite riding a season-high five-game winning streak, the Toronto Maple Leafs find themselves as underdogs on Thursay when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes (7:30 p.m. ET, TSN4) in Raleigh.

Toronto is coming off a 3-2 win Tuesday over the Philadelphia Flyers, while the Hurricanes have dropped five of their last eight games.

However, Carolina is 15-5 at home this season and has won its last four meetings with Toronto.

Our Maple Leafs vs. Hurricanes odds and prediction expects tonight’s affair to go down to the wire and also anticipates Sebastian Aho to continue to be a thorn in Toronto’s side.

  • Sebastian Aho prop pick: Over 0.5 assists (-105 via Betway) ⭐⭐⭐

My best Maple Leafs vs. Hurricanes pick: Tie after regulation ⭐⭐

Gone are the days of the Maple Leafs playing high-scoring, high-event hockey ... at least for now. Toronto recorded just 17 shots on net in Tuesday’s 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers, the eighth time in 10 games that the Leafs have been held under 30 shots.

Generating shots is rarely an issue for the Hurricanes, who lead the NHL with an average of 31.9 shots on target this season. However, the Canes are having difficulty converting those chances into goals, failing to score more than three regulation-time markers in nine of their last 10.

With tonight’s 5.5 total projecting another tight-checking affair, it’s hard to imagine either squad pulling away for a comfortable victory.

Toronto was minutes away from playing its second straight OT game Tuesday in Philly, breaking a 2-2 tie with 6:39 remaining in regulation. The Hurricanes were even closer to an overtime affair Tuesday, giving up the winner with 52 seconds left after needing extra time in two of their previous four.

Best Maple Leafs vs. Hurricanes player prop pick

NHL picks made Thursday; odds subject to change.

Sebastian Aho prop pick: Over 0.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐

Aho has been the Leafs’ biggest nemesis in recent meetings between the teams, collecting points on nine of the 14 goals Carolina has scored in the last four matchups. He’s also averaging more than a point per game at home, where he’s cracked the scoresheet in 10 of his last 12 outings.

Betway makes Aho a -225 favorite to notch at least one point tonight, but we can get him at close to even odds by backing him to earn an assist. Thirty of Aho’s 43 points this season have come on helpers.
