In a star-studded event in Edmonton, the red-hot Vegas Golden Knights will take on Connor McDavid’s Oilers. Here are our NHL picks for Saturday's game between the Golden Knights and Oilers.

The Golden Knights have been sitting at the top of the NHL standings alongside the Boston Bruins since the beginning of the season. With just four losses on the season, the Golden Knights are 10-2-0 in their last 12 games.

The Oilers are just 9-8-0 overall, but with the combination of McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, they’re tough competition for any team.

Here are my NHL picks and predictions for Saturday night’s game between the Golden Knights and Oilers (odds via FanDuel SportsbookBetMGM, and DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5 scale).

Golden Knights vs. Oilers Picks

  • Moneyline: Oilers (+100 via BetMGM) ★★★
  • Over/Under: Over 6.5 (-120 via FanDuel) ★★★
  • Prop: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 points (-110 via DraftKings) ★★★

Golden Knights vs. Oilers ML Pick

Oilers (+100) ★★★

Defense and goaltending have definitely been glaring issues for the Oilers this season. They rank 26th in the league with 3.59 goals allowed per game. No. 1 goaltender Jack Campbell owns a 4.27 GAA and .873 SV%. Even with such defensive woes, the Oilers' offense, led by McDavid and Draisaitl, always keeps them in the game.

McDavid already has 32 points in 17 games. He was kept entirely off the scoresheet in the Oilers’ Wednesday loss to the Los Angeles Kings. That was only his third game of the season without a point. The best of the best, the chances McDavid’s kept quiet for the second straight game are unlikely.

By no means should one downplay how good Vegas has been. The Golden Knights are 14-4-0 for a reason. Still, young starting goaltender Logan Thompson has looked more human of late between the pipes with 15 goals allowed across his last five games. With Edmonton’s offense, that’s something the Oilers can take advantage of even with the weak blue line on their end.

BetMGM is the only sportsbook where you can get the Oilers at even money. Such a value is worth the risk. The Oilers are at home coming off a quiet night for their offense. Even with Vegas’s defensive strengths, few are a match for McDavid and Draisaitl.

Golden Knights vs. Oilers O/U Pick

Over 6.5 (-120) ★★★

I’m taking the Over in this matchup solely because of the Oilers' defense. The combination of their weaknesses along with a Vegas offense averaging 3.61 goals per game offensively doesn’t bode well for a struggling Campbell.

While Vegas ranks fifth in goals scored per game, the Oilers are seventh, and again, I cannot reiterate this enough - have Connor Mcdavid on their team.

When the Oilers' offense gets in a groove, it can become an offensive explosion. Back the Over 6.5 goals.

Golden Knights vs. Oilers Prop Pick

McDavid Over 1.5 points (-110) ★★★

Sticking to a theme here, McDavid was left off the scoresheet entirely in the Oilers’ last game. To break open a game against a tough team like Vegas, it’s going to take a big night from McDavid and he’s certainly up to the challenge.

If anyone is going to capitalize against Thompson, it’s McDavid.
