Not only was Chicago Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard held off the scoresheet for a second consecutive game Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche, he didn’t register a single shot or attempt.

Colorado took him out of the game, and the lackluster supporting cast in Chicago could make it hard for Badard to have a consistent offensive impact – especially when matching up against the teams atop the Stanley Cup odds.

Saturday’s date with the Vegas Golden Knights is another incredibly tough draw for the Calder Trophy favorite. The Golden Knights are off to a 5-0 start and have surrendered just eight goals.

I’m anticipating Bedard having a little more time and space Saturday than he did against the Avs. The Golden Knights should still be without defensemen Zach Whitecloud (upper body) and Alex Pietrangelo (upper body).

It's definitely worth noting that Pietrangelo hasn't officially been ruled out for Saturday's game yet, but I don't expect him to play. Whitecloud is on injured reserve and out until at least Nov. 4.

Vegas also hasn’t been a shot suppressor to start the year. The Golden Knights are allowing a healthy 29.5 shots and 60.1 attempts per 60 minutes at five-on-five through its first five games.

Additionally, unlike Thursday, the Blackhawks will have the benefit of the last change, and head coach Luke Richardson should be able to find more softer on-ice matchups for Bedard on Saturday.

I have Bedard projected for 4.8 shots, so my price for this Over would be -175. It checks out at a positive expected value of 3%. It’s not a huge edge, but I also value that the Pinnacle price for Bedard to go Over 3.5 shots is -166.
