The Boston Bruins are 14-0-1 in their last 15 games against the Montreal Canadiens, but our Canadiens vs. Bruins prediction anticipates that streak could be in jeopardy at 3 p.m. ET when the teams take the ice at TD Garden (Sportsnet, CBC).

Boston’s home scoring woes continued Friday with a 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the sixth straight time the Bruins have scored two or fewer at the Garden. Meanwhile, Montreal is coming off a tough 4-3 loss yesterday afternoon to the New York Rangers, surrendering the game-winner in the final minute.

We’re expecting Montreal to rebound and give the Bruins all they can handle in Beantown.

After potting a season-high six goals Wednesday on the road against the New York Islanders, Boston reverted to its low-scoring ways at home in Friday’s 2-1 loss to the Penguins. The Bruins have now scored just three goals in their last four games at TD Garden, and haven’t managed a third-period goal in front of their home fans since early October.

When you aren’t scoring many goals, it’s hard to win by a large margin. Only two of the Bruins’ six home victories have come by more than a goal, with three of them coming in overtime. Boston is also a tired hockey team at the moment, having played 14 games in November and hitting the ice this afternoon for its fourth game in six days.

The Canadiens have shown plenty of fight lately, rallying from a late two-goal deficit yesterday against the New York Rangers before losing in the final minute of regulation. Prior to that 4-3 loss, the Habs had earned points in four of five (3-1-1) and allowed three goals or fewer in five of six.

Yes, this is Montreal’s second game in as many days, but the Canadiens were off for two days prior to yesterday afternoon’s visit to New York. Montreal should also be extremely motivated to end Boston’s 15-game point streak in this rivalry, and this afternoon presents a golden opportunity to do so.

Brenden Gallagher prop bet: Over 1.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -115 via Betway | Implied probability: 53.5%

Montreal’s feisty alternate captain tends to up his game against the Bruins, having scored four goals in the last five meetings. He’s averaged 3.6 shots per game in his last 10 games against Boston, hitting the net at least twice in each of those contests.

With the Bruins’ defensive focus on shutting down Cole Caufield and the Canadiens’ first line, Gallagher should have multiple looks on the Habs’ second unit with Juraj Salfkovsky and Christian Dvorak.
