NFL Week 7 Player Prop Picks & Odds: How to Bet Cooper, Adams, Wilson in Team Debuts
Last Updated: October 18, 2024 4:52 PM EDT • 6 min 19 sec read.
After a minor speed bump last week, we started our NFL Week 7 player prop picks with two big wins on Thursday Night Football to extend our season record to 17-12.
We cashed on a high-volume approach from Spencer Rattler and Alvin Kamara on Thursday in just the second career start for the New Orleans Saints quarterback.
Fittingly, we're targeting a few other players in their first game with their new team - backing star receivers Amari Cooper and Davante Adams while fading a former Super Bowl odds champion in his season debut on Sunday Night Football.
Here's a look at my favorite player props this week as part of our NFL Week 7 predictions.

Best NFL player prop for Sunday
Amari Cooper Over 18.5 yards longest completion (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you thought it was torturous watching the Cleveland Browns offense this season, imagine being a featured part of it.
Cooper has endured his worst season as a professional, averaging career lows in yards per game (41.7), yards per reception (10.4), and catch rate (45.3%).
But he's quietly been getting open at a prolific rate. Through six weeks, Cooper leads the NFL with 473 air yards in incomplete targets, per Next Gen Stats, and his average yards of separation (2.7) is his best mark since 2018.
Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady underscored Cooper's ability to separate after Buffalo traded for him earlier this week, and I fully expect this offense to find ways to get him open downfield in his team debut.
This is a tricky matchup against a Tennessee Titans defense allowing the NFL's fewest air yards (313) through its first five games, which is why I'm not all that interested in betting high on Cooper's overall volume on Sunday.
But I do expect him to get open at least once on Sunday, and his quarterback is finally good enough to find him. If that happens, a $10 bet at these -114 odds would pay out an $8.77 profit at FanDuel.

Sunday Night Football player props
Davante Adams Over 4.5 receptions (-108) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Like with Cooper, I'm not necessarily bullish on Adams lighting it up in his debut with the New York Jets given his tough matchup with an elite Pittsburgh Steelers defense.
That said, I do expect him to get plenty of chances in his first game back with Aaron Rodgers since the two last played together in Green Bay in 2021.
That's especially the case after Rodgers essentially drove the team bus over Mike Williams, who ranks third among Jets wideouts in targets but is now on the trade block after falling out of Rodgers' favor. He missed multiple practices this week for "personal reasons."
The mercurial Jets QB has a shiny new toy in Adams, who finished with at least five catches in 56 of his 62 games (90.3%) with Rodgers from 2018-21 across the regular season and postseason.
While he's not quite the same receiver now, the 31-year-old still cleared this total twice in three weeks with the Las Vegas Raiders before sitting out the last month.
The Jets traded for Adams in an effort to save their season, and I expect them to give him every opportunity to do so for the Sunday Night Football odds favorites.
Best odds: -108 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 51.92%
Russell Wilson Under 189.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
While it's all sunshine and rainbows for Cooper and Adams after escaping bad situations, Wilson is making his season and team debut for one of the worst offenses in football.
Through six weeks, Steelers QB Justin Fields has averaged 184.5 passing yards while finishing with fewer than 160 yards in four of his six starts, including two straight.
That performance was enough for Pittsburgh to turn to Wilson, who has spent the last few months nursing a calf injury but appears locked into his first start on Sunday against one of the best secondaries in football.
Entering this week, the Jets rank fourth in EPA/play allowed (-0.15) while allowing the second-fewest passing yards per game (170.2). The only two passers to clear this total against them were Brock Purdy (221) and Josh Allen (210) - two of the favorites by the NFL MVP odds.
I just don't see the upside in betting on Wilson to join that group, which is why I'm fading the inconsistent and recently injured passer on Sunday Night Football.

Spencer Rattler Over 18.5 completions (+100) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ✅
Last week, I thought Rattler had a chance to put up numbers in his NFL debut but feared that he wouldn't get the opportunity to do so.
Clearly, Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak didn't share my concerns, as he asked his rookie passer to air it out 40 times in a 51-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Rattler wasn't perfect, but he did finish with 22 completions for 243 yards even with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed - the Saints' leading receivers entering the game - combining for two catches for 16 yards.
Those two have already been ruled out tonight, and their absence combined with the Broncos' elite pass defense on paper has our best sportsbooks fading Rattler ahead of kickoff.
I get the instinct to do so, but Denver will also be without All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II (concussion), whose coverage on the outside is central to the Broncos' success to this point in the season.
Even with him in the lineup, this is a unit that will surrender the underneath throw to prevent the deep shot. Denver has ceded the second-lowest yards per attempt (6.0) but ranks 16th in completions allowed per game (20.5).
Four straight opponents have completed at least 21 passes against this defense, and those games all featured Surtain. If Rattler does that tonight, a $10 bet at these +100 odds via Caesars would return a $10 profit.
If you're feeling zesty, bet365 is also offering +140 odds for Rattler to complete 20 passes - so, one more than this prop total - with a winning $10 bet profiting $14.

Alvin Kamara Over 4.5 receptions (-128) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ✅
Just based on the logic above, it's not hard to see why I like this bet so much tonight on Kamara feasting as a pass-catcher.
As mentioned earlier, the Broncos have been stingy through the air while still allowing a league-average rate of completions. More than a quarter of those have come from opposing rushers, who are averaging 4.5 receptions against Denver.
Kamara has already cleared this total four times in six weeks, including three straight, after he hauled in five of eight targets last week in Rattler's debut.
The Saints QB targeted his running backs on 30% of his attempts last week, and I fully expect Kamara to be a featured part of the passing game this week with Olave and Shaheed both sidelined.
With this wager dealing between -140 and -174 elsewhere, I don't mind the -128 odds at FanDuel for a bet that should feature better than a 56% hit rate.
