Vikings vs. Lions SNF Prop Bets, Odds: Sunday Night Football
Last Updated: January 5, 2025 7:56 AM EST • 3 min 38 sec read.
There's a battle for all the NFC North marbles at Ford Field in Detroit (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC) on Sunday Night Football when the Minnesota Vikings take on the Detroit Lions.
The winner secures the division crown and top seed in the NFC, while the loser faces the much more daunting prospect of an away tilt during the first round of the playoffs.
The Sunday Night Football odds are showing Detroit as the 2.5 or 3-point favorite, but Mike Spector focuses on Minnesota's chances of covering in our Vikings vs. Lions prediction.
In a contest that should feature more offense than a high school basketball game, our Vikings vs Lions SNF prop bets lock in on headline acts Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Justin Jefferson.

Jared Goff Over 281.5 passing yards (-113) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Goff is accumulating passing yards faster than a snow buildup on Detroit's streets during a winter blizzard.
He's hit the Over on this prop in four straight games while averaging 354 yards. The signal-caller threw for 280 yards the last time these teams met in Week 7, but that was with both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs at his disposal.
With Montgomery out, he tossed for 336 and 303 yards against the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. He also thrives while playing at Ford Field, hitting the Over here in five of eight home contests.
And then there's the Vikings' defense, which is rated as the second-best against the run via PFF but allows the fifth-most passing yards per game (243.6).
The Vikings also trot out the 26th-ranked pass rush, according to PFF, despite blitzing at an NFL-high rate of 38%. Goff will be ready for the heat and must be at his snappiest in the pocket for Detroit to clinch the division.
A winning $10 bet will lead to a $8.85 profit.

Justin Jefferson Over 93.5 yards (-113) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
There's nobody more reliable, explosive, and clutch than Jefferson with the season on the line. He's hit the Over here in three of his last five games and came within two yards of eclipsing 94 yards last week against the Green Bay Packers.
He'll be licking his chops at the prospect of playing a depleted Lions secondary that's allowed at least 323 passing yards in each of its last three games.
Detroit moves forward with an injury-ravaged secondary. And while linebacker and defensive captain Alex Anzalone will return to face the Vikings, there are still five cornerbacks out for Detroit. That includes Carlton Davis, who could return for the playoffs. Detroit allows the most yards per game to wide receivers (190).
Additionally, the Lions produced a 29.5% pass defense success rate against the 49ers in Week 17, the second-lowest in a game this year. I can't see Detroit preventing Jefferson from doing what he's done so often in his career: stepping up when his team needs him most.

Jahmyr Gibbs Over 32.5 receiving yards (-113) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Gibbs has logged at least 45 receiving yards in his last three games.
The Vikings usually defend the pass pretty well against running backs, but Gibbs' workload and share of the ball have been increasing markedly since Montgomery's injury. He's logged at least four receptions in each of his last four games, a total he didn't hit in the previous six.
Goff will need to release the ball quickly against the Vikings' bring-the-house defense, increasing the probability of Gibbs getting targeted more often on quick checkdowns.
It's the FanDuel -113 trifecta, something you don't see every day. FanDuel offers the most competitive price on all three props at a slightly lower total than the rest of our best sportsbooks.
