Top SNF Picks, Predictions for NFL Week 3: Jimmy G Back As The Starter
Last Updated: January 1, 0001 12:00 AM EST • 1 min 61 sec read.
The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers face off on Sunday night as 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo draws his first start this year after being named Trey Lance's backup.
While all the buzz is about San Francisco improving with Jimmy G at the helm, the 9ers run the ball more than any other team, with 41 rushing attempts per game. This should elevate their running backs but may limit Jimmy G’s prop opportunities.
Here are our top Sunday Night Football prop picks for NFL Week 3 (odds via Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook and BetMGM).

Sunday Night Football Props
Garoppolo Under 235.5 passing yards (-119) ★★★★
Even though San Francisco's offense may operate differently under Jimmy G than Trey Lance, the 49ers have run the ball the most times per game this season. Last year with Garoppolo as starter, they finished sixth, running the ball 29.3 times per game. While Garoppolo only had seven of 15 games under 237.5 yards in 2021, three of his last five were under 200.
The Broncos’ defense has also been very stout against the pass, only allowing 165.5 passing yards per game, the NFL's 5th best. The 9ers will likely run the ball often to control the clock, limiting Garoppolo’s passing opportunities.
Samuel Over 32.5 rushing yards (-115) ★★★
In Week 1 the 49ers lost starting running back Elijah Mitchell. Even before Mitchell's injury, RB Deebo Samuel got carries and finished with 52 rushing yards. San Francisco lost backup RB Tyrion Davis-Price to an injury in Week 2. Samuel still ran 53 yards. Jeff Wilson is the 49ers' starting RB, however, Samuel had 59 rushing carries in 2021, more than any other receiver.
Samuel only went over 32.5 rushing yards five times last year. This season the O-line has improved, running the ball 182.5 yards a game, 4th best in the league. Expect Samuel to be the second running back behind Wilson.
1st Field Goal on or before 13:00 - Yes (-115) ★★★★★
Both offenses can move the ball down the field, however, last week they failed to capitalize on their opening possessions. Denver kicked a field goal nine minutes and 27 seconds in. San Francisco also kicked a field goal within 13 minutes last week, getting one six minutes and 40 seconds into the 1st quarter.
McManus Over 1.5 field goals made (-110) ★★★★★
Denver placekicker Brandon McManus kicked two field goals in both contests this year. Last season, with less efficient QB Drew Lock at the helm, McManus made over two field goals in eight games. The Broncos can move the ball down the field, having seventh most yards per game with 391.5. However, they haven’t converted on those opportunities, with just 16th most points per game.
