Tonight's Thursday Night Football encounter between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers can't get much more meaningful as both teams attempt to gain relevance in the playoff conversation.

The Rams have a 26% chance of making the playoffs entering tonight's game at Levi's Stadium (8:15 p.m. ET, Prime Video), but a victory would improve that number to 41%, according to .

Meanwhile, the pre-season Super Bowl odds front-runner San Francisco 49ers must win to keep their playoff hopes alive. A loss would result in a less than 1% chance.

The Thursday Night Football odds have the 49ers as the 3-point home favorites at BetMGM, and our Rams vs. 49ers prediction expect San Francisco to cover and keep their playoff hopes alive.

The below picks are part of our TNF coverage, including the Rams vs. 49ers TNF prop bets and Rams vs. 49ers parlay picks and predictions

49ers were dominant last week

Most teams that have suffered injuries to key players, many of whom have made Pro Bowls, would not still be within striking distance of the playoffs at 6-7. But what San Francisco has done while missing many of its biggest stars all season is remarkable.

The 49ers have outgained their opponents by 1,040 yards this season, second in the NFL only to the Eagles (+1,129). Third on that list is the Lions (+991), so San Francisco is sitting in the same company as two of the league’s Super Bowl odds favorites.

San Francisco was a similarly banged-up team in its Week 3 meeting with Los Angeles. The 49ers outgained the Rams 425-296 and had a 25-19 edge in first downs in that game, despite playing without Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle.

Rams struggle as underdogs

Los Angeles won outright as an underdog against Buffalo last week despite allowing 42 points. But the Rams have proven that they do not consistently find success in the underdog role.

Matthew Stafford has won just four of his last 19 games outright as an underdog and just 28.6% of the games in his career in that role. And under Sean McVay, he and his head coach are 28-9 straight up as favorites and 6-16 as underdogs.

All of the best NFL betting sites are in unison with the point spread of San Francisco -2.5, and I am backing the 49ers at anything less than a field goal. This would become a more confident four-star play if Isaac Guerendo was cleared to play following a foot injury.

Our Phil Wood also backed the Niners with his Rams vs. 49ers early picks.

Jauan Jennings Over 64.5 receiving yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings has performed admirably in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk. Jennings has played in five games without Aiyuk and has seen a team-high 32% target share in that span. Brock Purdy is looking his way often, as Jennings still had target shares of 27% and 29% in the snow against Buffalo when Purdy was battling a shoulder injury.

Even when playing alongside Aiyuk, Jennings showed flashes of brilliance, especially against the Rams. In Week 3, Jennings caught 11 of his 12 targets for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Andrew Brennan is eyeing him to score again in his anytime touchdown scorer predictions for TNF.

This is a four-star play, as the Rams recently allowed Josh Allen to throw for a season-high 342 yards. Further, his 9.2 yards per attempt were his second-highest since Week 1.

Over backers are getting the best number at BetMGM, as FanDuel has a slightly higher O/U at 67.5. Should Jennings go over this projected total for the fourth time in the last six games, our $10 winning wager would return a payout of $8.70.

Our Phil Wood also expanded on Jennings' outlook in his Rams vs. 49ers TNF prop bets, as is Rod Villagomez in his first touchdown scorer predictions for Thursday Night Football. And Connor Cooper is looking toward a receiver on the other sideline in his Puka Nacua picks.
