NFL Picks Against the Spread for Every Week 17 Game

The end of the NFL regular season is drawing ever closer, but we're still finding weekly value in our NFL picks against the spread based on the NFL odds for Week 17.

Our best ATS picks for Week 17 focus on two Super Bowl odds contenders in the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, who are locked in a tight race for the NFC North title and No. 1 seed to secure a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Our esteemed Gary Pearson went 9-6-1 ATS last week - including 2-1 on his featured picks - to extend his record to 112-79-2 since Week 4, and I'm eyeing three games in particular to help us keep rolling with our NFL ATS predictions.

Vikings (-1.5) vs. Packers

Best odds: | Implied probability: 51.22%

What more do the Vikings need to do to earn the respect of our best NFL betting sites?

Head coach Kevin O'Connell has led this team to 13 wins behind a career resurgence from QB Sam Darnold and a terrorizing defense, which is why he's the clear favorite by the NFL Coach of the Year odds entering Week 17.

The Packers are a worthwhile foe, but Minnesota boasts a better defense and an offense I trust more on a down-to-down basis. The Vikings deserve to be laying a field goal at home and I'll gladly settle for anything less.

Panthers (+8) at Buccaneers

Best odds: | Implied probability: 51.92%

You won't earn kudos from your friends for backing the Panthers, but the NFL's worst team each of the last two seasons has quietly covered six of its last seven games with sophomore QB Bryce Young back under center.

Meanwhile, the Bucs are backsliding after last week's shocking 26-24 loss to the Dallas Cowboys to lose control of their NFL playoffs odds. Tampa Bay let backup QB Cooper Rush tear up its defense through the air and couldn't avoid hurting itself with penalties, which was an issue three weeks earlier in Carolina.

These teams battled to overtime in that 26-23 win for the Buccaneers on Dec. 1, and I don't anticipate Tampa Bay winning this one by multiple scores.

Lions (-3.5) at 49ers

Best odds: | Implied probability: 52.38%

Given the stakes of this game for the Lions - practically and emotionally - I'm surprised our best sportsbooks have this lined just north of a field goal.

The 49ers were elimimated from the playoffs last week to put a merciful end to a cursed campaign, while the Lions can clinch the NFC North and No. 1 seed with a win and a Vikings loss this week or next.

Detroit has outscored its last six opponents with a losing record by an average of 26.7 points, and five of those six wins came by at least 17 points. I fully expect a lopsided result on Monday night to close out Week 17.
