NFL MVP Odds: Josh Allen Still Favorite Over Jackson With 2 Weeks Left in Regular Season
Last Updated: December 22, 2024 7:38 PM EST • 3 min 14 sec read.
With two weeks left in the NFL regular season, Josh Allen continues to hold onto his seemingly insurmountable lead over Lamar Jackson in the NFL MVP odds despite the former's tough showing in Week 16.
Allen led the Buffalo Bills to a 24-21 win over the New England Patriots to keep his team in pace in the latest Super Bowl odds, though it came after a slow start from the prohibitive MVP favorite in his worst game in over a month.
Meanwhile, Jackson put forth another three-TD performance to lead the Baltimore Ravens to a big win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, though he's running out of time with our best NFL betting sites giving Allen an implied 85.47% chance to win this award.

Josh Allen, QB, Bills (-588)
2024 stats: 3,549 passing yards, 26 TDs, 6 INTs (512 rushing yards, 11 TDs)
Let's be honest: Allen won this award a month ago when he for a touchdown to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, and he's been padding his resume with a scoring spree in the weeks since that win.
He wasn't totally up to his usual tricks on Sunday, finishing with a mere 154 passing yards and one touchdown, but Allen doesn't need to produce magic to win this award. He just needs to nurse a comfortable lead and not blow it - like his team nearly did on Sunday.
With two games left - next week's tilt against the New York Jets and a Week 18 rematch with the Patriots - don't expect Allen to cough this one up. Barring a miracle, this is his award to lose.

Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens (+500)
2024 stats: 3,787 passing yards, 37 TDs, 4 INTs (765 rushing yards, 3 TDs)
This race is probably over, but don't tell that to Jackson, who keeps putting together impressive performances to prevent our best sportsbooks from calling this a wrap.
His latest act came against the rival Steelers, who have been his Achilles' heel throughout his career. Not this time: Jackson finished with 207 passing yards and three touchdowns to lead a 34-17 win and clinch Baltimore's NFL playoffs odds.
The reigning MVP still leads the league in a host of key passing metrics, but his team success doesn't match what Allen has done, and he's losing in the court of public opinion. Ultimately, that's all that matters for this narrative-driven award.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Eagles (+1400)
2024 stats: 314 carries, 1,838 rushing yards, 13 TDs (31 receptions, 276 yards, 2 TDs)
Barkley's dream season isn't over yet, as the Eagles star enjoyed another sensational performance on Sunday with 150 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Commanders.
Much of that performance came in the first quarter, though an injury to Jalen Hurts ultimately spelled a Philly loss and hurt the Eagles' Super Bowl odds.
In the end, Barkley needs both of the quarterbacks above him to falter down the stretch for him to have any shot of becoming the first non-QB to win this award since Adrian Peterson (2012). And he's running out of time.
Jared Goff, QB, Lions (+2500)
2024 stats: 4,095 passing yards, 33 TDs, 10 INTs (59 rushing yards)
What Goff is doing this year isn't quite MVP-worthy in a year with other stellar candidates, but it's still deserving of lavish praise given how ruthlessly efficient the Detroit Lions' offense has been with him at the helm.
Goff added to his highlight reel on Sunday with 336 passing yards and three touchdowns, including this gem after pretending to trip before throwing a dot to Sam LaPorta for six points:
Like the other candidates on this list, there just isn't enough time for Goff to realistically catch Allen in this race. But the trophy he cares most about is still well within his grasp, as I broke down earlier this month in my story about the Lions Super Bowl odds.
