Lions vs. 49ers MNF Prop Bets, Odds: Monday Night Football

Whether the Detroit Lions win or lose against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football doesn't really change the complexion of the NFC North.

Detroit can lose against San Francisco and still take the division as long as it beats Minnesota in Week 18. The Lions still enter tonight's contest away tilt at Levi's Stadium (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN) as the 3.5-point favorites via the Monday Night Football odds.

They are also among the Super Bowl odds front-runners with two games to play.

Jahmyr Gibbs Over 27.5 receiving yards (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Gibbs doesn't have his Robin - or Batman, depending on your perspective - against the 49ers, ensuring he will be the Lions' main backfield attraction. Gibbs was omnipresent in Chicago last week, amassing 109 yards on the ground and 45 receiving yards on four catches. 

While he might not be as prolific against the 49ers, I expect him to bust through the 28-yard threshold. He hit this Over in three straight contests and has the most yards per reception (10.2) for running backs with at least 40 targets. The same is true in terms of his average yards after the catch (12.2). 

San Francisco's defense is the best at containing wide receivers, allowing a league-low of 122.87 per game. Jared Goff might find it more challenging to find his wideouts consistently, which should increase the number of looks Gibbs gets. A winning $10 bet will profit $9.09.

Brock Purdy Under 1.5 TD passes (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Purdy probably can't wait to see the back end of the 2024-25 season. He has tossed at least two touchdown passes in just five of 14 outings and one of the last five.

While Detroit is by no means healthy, its personnel status isn't nearly as dire as it was last week in the Windy City with cornerback Terrion Arnold (illness) set to play. Even with its secondary issues, Detroit has remained steadfast as an elite unit while allowing the NFL's fewest touchdown passes in the red zone (10).

I can't see Purdy connecting on many explosive pass plays given the status of his injury-riddled offensive line, too.

Jared Goff Over 32.5 passing attempts (-115) ⭐⭐⭐

The game script might put some people off making this wager, but I don't see Detroit dominating San Francisco, which should force the visitors to throw the ball throughout.

Goff eclipsed 32.5 passing attempts in four of the last five games, averaging 40.4 during that stretch. The only Under, a 32-attempt outing, came against the Bears last week when the Lions were out of sight by the end of the third quarter.

While he has only hit the Over on this prop in five of 15 contests, the recent uptick has me believing he'll be looking to spray the ball early. And I can't see Goff throwing the ball less without Montgomery, even with Gibbs taking on a significantly heftier workload.
