Lions vs. Giants Analysis
The Giants opened as 4-point favorites, but all of the movement has been in favor of the Lions since. The line has dropped to the key number of 3 at all major sportsbooks, yet a majority of bettors are backing the Giants to cover the spread.
The total has stayed put everywhere except for FanDuel since opening at 45. More than 68% and 62% of tickets are on the Over.
Lions vs. Giants Picks
- Spread: Lions +3 (-107 via PointsBet)
- Over/Under: Over 44.5 (-112 via FanDuel)
- Prop: Saquon Barkley Under 96.5 rushing yards (-115 via DraftKings)
Lions vs. Giants ATS Pick
Lions +3 (-107) ★★★
Despite being 7-2 both straight up and against the spread, Oddsmakers still aren’t showing the Giants much love. Last week, they were favored by just 4.5 over the Texans, who still only have one win. This week marks just the fourth time all season that the Giants are favored. They are 2-1 against the spread in such situations.
Yet, the Lions have looked like a different team since their bye week. They made plays late to win over the Bears and Packers, they lost by just four to the Dolphins, and they led Dallas 6-3 at the half before the wheels came off.
The Lions have underperformed this season, but they are getting healthy on both sides of the ball. Meanwhile, the Giants have overperformed all season, and with four division games in a row after this week, they may already be looking ahead to Thanksgiving against Dallas.
Lions vs. Giants O/U Pick
Over 44.5 (-112) ★★
This game is a classic example of “something’s gotta give”. Only one Giants’ game this season has gone over 45 points. Additionally, the Giants have yet to score or give up 30 points in a game this season.
Meanwhile, the Lions have scored 30 or more points in four games this season, and they have allowed opponents to score 24 or more in eight of their nine games. The Lions proved they can win a low-scoring game two weeks ago when they beat the Packers, 15-9. But that game was an outlier.
With us expecting the Lions to cover, and potentially even win this game, we’re expecting them to score against the Giants’ defense to push this one Over by a small margin.
Lions vs. Giants Prop Pick
Barkley Under 96.5 rushing yards (-115) ★★★★
In the five games prior to their bye week, the Lions allowed two running backs to rush for 100 yards against them, while two others ran for 96. Since their bye week, the Lions have not allowed a running back to run for more than 100, with the closest being Tony Pollard who had 83.
Detroit’s defensive rushing numbers look bad because the Lions have a hard time keeping mobile quarterbacks under control. Last week, Justin Fields ran for 147 yards, and the week prior, the Lions allowed 40 rushing yards to Aaron Rodgers.
If you feel more comfortable taking an Over, bet on Daniel Jones rather than Barkley.
