The 2-4 New York Jets are road favorites over the 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers as the two teams meet for a Sunday Night Football clash in Week 7.

The Jets have lost three games in a row, but they would have likely defeated the Buffalo Bills last week if Greg Zeurlein made two makeable field goals. Based on the Jets vs. Steelers early picks and odds, it seems that despite the loss, the performance earned the Jets some favor with oddsmakers. The Sunday Night Football odds had the game opening with Pittsburgh lined as a 1.5-point favorite.

Whether the Jets will have newly-acquired wideout Davante Adams in the lineup remains to be seen.

They’re now small favorites over the Steelers, despite the Steelers being 4-2 and playing at home. The Steelers ended a two-game losing streak with a dominant 32-13 win at the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6. Can their defense shut down the Jets?

Most (67%) of wagers are backing the Steelers right now, so don’t be surprised if this returns to being a pick'em before long. That said, oddsmakers are in no hurry to move this spread off of -1.5, so they may be happy with the action they’re seeing from the public.

But even taking oddsmakers out of the equation, the Jets deserve to be favored in this game. They have lost three games in a row, but they’ve had chances to win every game, losing by a combined 10 points. The defense is playing well, and they’re about to face an offense that is averaging just 20.7 points per game.

The Steelers have the second-ranked scoring defense in the league, but they’ve allowed at least 20 points in two of their last three games. Aaron Rodgers needs to take better care of the ball, but even if he turns it over once or twice, his offense is better than the Steelers’ offense. And with both defenses playing well, the better offense will be the deciding factor in this game.

Moneyline

  • Jets best odds: +105 via Caesars | Implied probability: 48.78%
  • Steelers best odds: +102 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 49.50%

Despite being favored at four of our best sports betting apps, the Jets have longer odds to win this game than the Steelers do. That’s because Caesars offers the Jets at +105, while the best price for the Steelers is +102 at DraftKings.

With every other sportsbook having the Jets at -110 or better to win, there is a lot of value in taking the Jets to win at Caesars. Caesars is saying there’s just a 48.78% chance the Jets win, but every other sportsbook implies odds greater than 50%.

Spread

  • Jets best odds: +1.5 (-110) via Caesars
  • Steelers best odds: +1.5 (-110) via BetMGM

Once again, Caesars has created an interesting situation by going against the other four major sites with the best sportsbook promo and making the Jets underdogs in this game. Therefore, you could bet on both teams at +1.5 in this game, and if the game ends with a one-point differential, you would win both bets.

While Caesars is the outlier now, the Steelers are seeing over 65% of wagers from bettors. Therefore, it seems it’s just a matter of time before this is either a pick'em or the Steelers are favored.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: 36 (-110) via Caesars
  • Under best odds: 37 (-108) via DraftKings

Sportsbooks are all over the place when it comes to this total. FanDuel has the number set at 37.5, DraftKings has 37, BetMGM and bet365 have 36.5, and Caesars has 36.

At the moment, 54% of wagers back the over, but that likely has to do with how low the number is, not the offenses on the field. Based on current prices and betting trends, this number will likely settle at 37 at each of the five major sportsbooks. The under is the right play at that number.
