The Green Bay Packers hope to keep their NFC North title hopes alive against the Detroit Lions to start Week 14. The Lions come into this key clash as the Super Bowl odds favorites, with the Packers not far behind in sixth.

The Packers (9-3) make the trip across Lake Michigan to take on the Lions (11-1) inside Ford Field at 8:15 p.m. ET (Prime Video).

There were plenty of candidates to choose from for my first touchdown scorer predictions for Thursday Night Football, as both teams are inside the top 10 in the league in points per game. However, two skill position players stand out as the best value plays for their respective squads.

Detroit has scored the first touchdown in nine of its 11 games this season. Meanwhile, Green Bay has found the end zone first in 10 of its 12 contests this year. Both of my picks for this game have played a part in those totals.

Reed has logged six receiving touchdowns for Green Bay this season, tying him with tight end Tucker Kraft for the most on the team. 

The second-year wideout has scored the first touchdown of the game in three of his outings this year. He's been the first Packer to cross the goal line in all five games in which the pass-catcher has scored a touchdown.

Green Bay faces a Detroit defense that hasn't allowed a rushing touchdown in its last three matchups. I expect the Packers to attack the Lions through the air while attempting to exploit a Detroit secondary that surrendered three passing touchdowns last week to the Chicago Bears.

A two-headed Lions rushing attack featuring David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs has resulted in 21 rushing touchdowns for Detroit this season. Gibbs owns 10, including two that were the first touchdown of the game.

The Lions face a Packers defense allowing the ninth-most rushing touchdowns per game on the road this season (1.2). The Chicago Bears scored both of their touchdowns on the ground two weeks ago while hosting Green Bay. 

FanDuel is giving us a much more significant edge than the majority of our NFL parlay betting sites, which are offering +450 for Gibbs to score the first touchdown of the game. In comparison, Montgomery's best line is +480 on FanDuel to cross the goal line first, while the same odds are as short as +400 through BetMGM.
