The top two teams in the AFC West will battle on Sunday Night Football, as the 11-1 Kansas City Chiefs host the 8-4 Los Angeles Chargers.

Recently, it hasn't mattered who the Chiefs play, with their games often coming down to the last snap.

Kansas City has now beaten the Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders, two teams with five combined wins, by five total points in the last two weeks. In the process, they became the first team in NFL history to win nine of their first 12 games by seven or fewer points.

Los Angeles is off to its best start (8-4) since 2018. And though three games separate these teams in the standings, the Chargers have the best point differential (+72) of all AFC West teams.

In Week 14, FanDuel should be the most coveted sportsbook for Chargers backers, as it is one of two of our offering better than +160 odds to back them.

Kansas City is one of the lone favorites that bettors may prefer to back on the moneyline given its penchant for playing close games. After all, the Chiefs have won 17 of their last 18 games, and Patrick Mahomes is 9-2 SU in his career against the Chargers.

Spread

  • Chargers best odds: +4.5 (-110) via bet365

This is one of the only games on the Week 14 slate where our best NFL prop betting sites differ by a full point in their opening lines.

Los Angeles backers will cite the fact that it had a 10-0 lead in the first matchup against Kansas City before allowing 17 consecutive points in defeat. But there will be plenty of support for the Chiefs as the Chargers play their second consecutive game at a rest disadvantage.

I would be surprised if this game kicked off with a spread as high as -4.5 considering the Chiefs have failed to cover in six straight, while the Chargers are 5-1 ATS in their last six.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: 43.5 (-110) via BetMGM
  • Under best odds: 44.5 (-110) via bet365

This total has a great chance of being heavily affected by the weather forecast, as early indications call for rain.

Oddsmakers got ahead of it and made it a low total, most likely playing off the fact that these two teams combined for 27 points in Week 4. That history and the possibility of a worsening weather forecast leave room for the total to plummet further.

Under backers should take advantage of any 44.5 while they last.
