Best NFL Over/Under Bets of Week 2: Can Rodgers, Packers Wake Up?
Last Updated: September 16, 2022 10:38 AM EDT • 2 min 56 sec read.
Low scores were one of the big themes as the 2022 NFL regular season kicked off last weekend. We look at whether the trend will continue in Week 2 with our top NFL Over/Under picks.
Even with half the games on the schedule featuring betting lines below 45 points, Week 1 proved to be a big payday for NFL betting fans taking the Under, which paid out in 10 of 16 contests.
Big totals are expected for Week 2 contests scheduled to be played in primetime. However, several teams come out of Week 1 battered by injuries, which has helped put some downward pressure on the Over/Under in a number of games.
Here are our picks for the best Over/Under bets of NFL Week 2 (odds via BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, and FanDuel Sportsbook).

NFL Week 2 O/U Predictions
Bengals-Cowboys Under 43 (-110)
The total for the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 2 home date with the Cincinnati Bengals opened at a lofty 50.5 but has rapidly tumbled in the wake of last weekend’s injury to Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott. The question now is just how low can the total go in this matchup.
Even before Prescott suffered the hand injury that is expected to sideline him for at least four weeks, the Cowboys struggled to move the ball, crossing the 50-yard line just once before halftime, and three times in the game. Now saddled with the tandem of Cooper Rush and Will Grier under center, things are not likely to get easier against a Bengals defense that limited the Pittsburgh Steelers to 267 total yards.
However, the Bengals failed to distinguish themselves on offense. QB Joe Burrow, the hero of this team’s march to a Super Bowl berth last season, tossed four interceptions in Week 1. And the Bengals much-hyped rebuilt offensive line once again failed to protect the young QB, who was sacked seven times on the day. The Bengals still possess all the weapons necessary to run up the score, but this team has work to do on gelling as a unit.
Colts-Jaguars Under 47 (-110)
There are few things that have become more certain in recent years than the likelihood of the Indianapolis Colts losing on the road to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts have not earned a road victory over the sad-sack Jaguars in eight years, and have averaged just 14.9 points per game during their current 0-7-0 straight-up slide.
Even with the offense now in the hands of veteran passer Matt Ryan, Indy failed to provide any indication that anything has changed in last weekend’s 20-20 tie with the Houston Texans. Granted, Ryan managed to overcome a shaky start by tossing a fourth-quarter score to preserve the tie, while piling up 352 passing yards in the contest.
Ryan can expect to receive a harsh welcome from a solid Jaguars defense that picked off Washington Commanders QB Carson Wentz twice last week before surrendering a pair of fourth-quarter TDs. Even if the Colts break through offensively, Under bettors can still enjoy an edge in the form of a Jaguars offense led by Trevor Lawrence that committed multiple unforced errors that likely cost them the game in their season opener.
Bears-Packers Over 42.5 (-110)
The NFL season could not have gotten off to a better start for the Chicago Bears, who eked out a 19-10 comeback victory over the San Francisco 49ers on a rain-soaked gridiron at Soldier Field. Bears quarterback Justin Fields connected when it counted, with his 51-yard scoring pass to Dante Pettis accounting for nearly a third of his passing yards on the day.
However, there should be little reason to expect the Bears' defense to turn in a stingy repeat performance under the lights at Lambeau Field, where they face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. These teams have a history of running up the score when playing in primetime, with the total reaching 47 or higher in four of five meetings.
Add to that, a surly Aaron Rodgers eager to atone for his performance in a 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week, and what we may get is the most entertaining and competitive primetime matchup between these rivals since the Packers’ 24-23 comeback home win in Week 1 of the 2018 season.
