There's a divisional clash on Monday Night Football between two teams that are streaking in the opposite direction.

The Bears sealed up a fourth consecutive losing campaign after dropping their seventh straight contest this past week. Meanwhile, the Vikings have strung together six straight wins, their longest such streak since 2022. It was a close affair the last time these two squads met, with the Vikings prevailing 30-27 during Week 12.

The Monday Night Football odds show the Vikings as the touchdown favorite, though the game total is on the lower side at 43.5.

Chicago can build off the Week 12 loss

Chicago’s Week 12 loss to the Vikings was the fifth of its current seven-game losing skid, and the Bears have averaged just 15.1 points per game in that span. But Chicago scored 27 points in that loss to the Vikings, its third-highest scoring output of the season.

At the time of that first meeting, Minnesota had held three consecutive opponents to 13 or fewer points for the first time since 2017. 

The Bears will have to do better against the pass, as they allowed career-highs in receptions yards to Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson in the first meeting.

Positive signs from Caleb Williams 

In the first meeting between these teams, Williams turned in his highest QBR by far (77.4) in a game with 40-plus passing attempts.

He recorded his first game with multiple touchdowns against a blitz, completing 9-for-12 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns against Minnesota’s pressure, per ESPN Research.

Then offensive coordinator (now head coach) Thomas Brown had a brilliant game plan for Williams, as his 2.42 average seconds to throw was his shortest in a game to that point.

Going against recent results

Minnesota has attracted more than 70% of the betting action to this point, as the public is reacting to last week’s results.

The Bears dropped to 0-6 on the road with a 38-13 loss to the 49ers, while the Vikings doubled up on the Falcons 42-21. But teams who lost by 17-plus points who face a team coming off a 17-plus point victory have covered the spread 59% of the time since 2003.

Chicago may not be a serious option to pull the outright upset, considering it has lost 20 consecutive road games played on a Sunday. But it has won seven of its last 10 road games not played on a Sunday and three of its last five night road games.

Keenan Allen Over 4.5 receptions (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Allen has played in 11 games this season and has been held to five or fewer catches 10 times. The lone exception was his breakout nine-reception performance in Week 12 against Minnesota when he totaled a season-high 86 receiving yards.

I am backing Allen to record five or more receptions again, as he runs 52% of his routes from the slot. Minnesota allows the third-most receptions and fifth-most receiving yards to slot receivers, and has allowed the second-most catches to slot receivers since Week 9.

Over backers are getting a great price at bet365, as this total is juiced to -143 at Caesars, which carries a 58.85% implied probability. Through bet365’s -115 odds, a $10 winning wager would pay out $18.70.
