AFC Division Winner Predictions

Buffalo Bills To Win AFC East (-215)

This may be the easiest division to predict. The New York Jets drafted pieces to put around Zach Wilson, though it sounds like he’ll miss the first couple of games with injuries. The Miami Dolphins made a splash for Tyreek Hill, yet their win total expectations didn’t raise much from last year. Long-time rivals the New England Patriots were in contention last year, until the end of the season when they lost three of four games.

That leaves last year’s division winner, the Bills. One of the most talented rosters in the NFL already, they improved an already good defense with the addition of Von Miller. Their quarterback, Josh Allen, remains one of the best in the NFL as well.

Colts To Win AFC South (-125)

The Colts finished second in the division last year at 9-8. While the Tennessee Titans remain a threat, Ryan Tannehill loses wide receiver A.J. Brown, Derrick Henry is coming off a foot injury at 29 years old, and wideouts Treylon Burks and Robert Woods also both have injury histories. The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars are both still in the process of their rebuilds and shouldn't be much of a threat.

The Colts return last year’s leading rusher, Jonathan Taylor. They also traded Carson Wentz away this season and acquired Matt Ryan. Last year Ryan threw for 3,968 yards to Wentz’s 3,563.

The Colts did lose their defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus to the Chicago Bears, but this is still a strong defensive team. They'll win the division this year, surpassing the Titans.

Chargers To Win AFC West (+250)

The AFC West saw the most changes in the AFC. Along with the Hill and Wilson trades, the Las Vegas Raiders made a big trade to get Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. This should be the most competitive division within the AFC if not all of the NFL.

The Chargers return very good offensive and defensive players with little player turnover, unlike their divisional opponents. Justin Herbert leads an offense with Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, and Mike Williams and will steal this division from the Chiefs.

Steelers To Win AFC North (+1000)

The easy pick here would be either last year’s division winner and Super Bowl participant the Cincinnati Bengals, or the Lamar Jackson-led Baltimore Ravens. However, while some zig I’m going to zag.

The Steelers have an electric running back in Najee Harris, as well as a competent receiving corp. Whether Mitch Trubisky or Kenny Pickett leads them, the preseason showed this offense will move the ball. They also have one of the strongest defenses in the NFL, led by NFL MVP candidate T.J. Watt. Mike Tomlin is a heck of a coach who had them a half-game behind from winning the division last year despite poor play from Ben Roethlisberger.

At +1000, the Steelers are a good value play for a division winner.
