After a surprising victory over Auburn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the No. 13 seed Yale Bulldogs (23-9) aim to continue their Cinderella run against the No. 5 seed San Diego State Aztecs (25-10) in Sunday's second-round matchup. Scheduled to tip off at 9:40 p.m. ET at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, the game will be broadcast on TBS.

The Bulldogs upset the Tigers 78-76 behind 28 points from John Pulakidas. Meanwhile, the Aztecs escaped with a 69-65 win over the UAB Blazers thanks to 32 points from Jaedon LeDee.

As part of our March Madness predictions, here is our best Yale vs. San Diego State prediction and college basketball picks (odds via our best March Madness betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Yale vs. San Diego State odds

Yale (13) vs. San Diego State (5) prediction: East Region

Jaedon LeDee Over 7.5 rebounds ⭐⭐⭐

Best odds:

Editor's note: DraftKings has now shifted its price significantly as of Sunday morning and sits at -120. is offering the best price at -105.

Even though Danny Wolf is the Bulldogs’ leading scorer, there's little doubt that LeDee is the best player inside the paint in this game. Without Wolf, the Bulldogs struggle to rebound. So if the Aztecs can get him in foul trouble early, LeDee will gain a distinct advantage inside.

But even if Wolf plays the majority of the game, LeDee’s rebounding total is still worth a play. These two teams play very slowly, so there won’t be a lot of shots in this game. But with how good the Aztecs are defensively, most of the shots the Bulldogs take will be misses.

LeDee averages 8.4 rebounds per game, and he just pulled down eight during Friday’s win over the Blazers. He’s much more physical than Wolf or anyone else the Bulldogs are going to put down low against him. Don’t be surprised if he grabs 10 rebounds in this game.

and  are each listing the total for this prop at 7.5. Though there isn’t much of a difference from one sportsbook to the other, getting +100 for a player to hit an Over while still potentially going under his season average in a favorable matchup is the right play.

Yale vs. San Diego State spread & Over/Under analysis

The Aztecs opened as 5.5-point favorites, and despite getting 68% of the action, the spread has either stayed put or moved in favor of the Bulldogs. Because this game is likely to be very low-scoring, it’s not surprising to see such a small spread. The Aztecs could have this game on lockdown from start to finish and still notch just a five-point win. Don’t expect the number to grow beyond six.

The total for this game opened at 128.5, and it's either stayed there or dropped to 128 at all of our best sports betting sites. Currently, 65% of wagers back the under, and based on how methodical these two teams play, there's no reason to think the public will favor the over in any way before tipoff.

Expect it to get as low as 126. The Under would still be the right play at that number.
