Notre Dame has been playing better basketball of late, with few wins to show for it. The Fighting Irish enter this game on a three-game losing skid, but the last two losses have come by one point.
Notre Dame started the losing streak by allowing its most transition points of the season in an 11-point road loss at Georgia Tech. Then the Fighting Irish gave away the UNC game with a silly four-point play up three, and squandered a 10-point first-half lead against NC State.
Notre Dame has received a boost from having Markus Burton healthy, as he played 33 minutes in the second of two games back after a seven-game absence. However, the Fighting Irish had all five starters play 33 or more minutes, while only one player off the bench had more than six minutes of action against NC State.
Thus, Notre Dame’s depth will be tested by a Duke team that ranks in the top seven in both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency. The Blue Devils are also one of the most physical and biggest teams (second in terms of average height) in the country.
