There is plenty of uncertainty regarding the Houston Rockets (15-7) vs. Golden State Warriors (12-8) matchup on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET at Chase Center in San Francisco, airing on NBA TV.

  • Golden State stars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have been ruled out
  • Houston’s Fred VanVleet is questionable
  • The Warriors used 10 players on Tuesday after going 12 or 13 deep all year

To accompany our Nuggets vs. Cavaliers prediction, my Rockets vs. Warriors player props try to capitalize on all that uncertainty.

The Golden State offense has to run through someone on Thursday. Curry and Green rank top two in assists per game at 6.6 and 5.9, respectively, as the highest-usage players on the team.

Kuminga figures to see a more prominent role, which is why his points prop has moved from 15.5 in Tuesday’s start to 18.5 against the Rockets. Kuminga posted a 25.7% usage rating and scored 19 points in a loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Despite that usage, Kuminga’s assists prop remains at 2.5 after dishing two dimes against Denver. According to pbpstats.com, Kuminga averages 0.4 more assists per 100 possessions when playing without Curry this season, a promising sign for this Over if he has another high-usage performance against Houston.

I’d bet Over 2.5 assists at -125 or better.

Brandin Podziemski Over 1.5 turnovers ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Podziemski will attempt to move on after fouling Michael Porter Jr. on two different 3-pointers on Tuesday. He will undoubtedly be a key part of Golden State’s backcourt plans with Curry on the bench.

Both the points and assists prop markets have increased for Podziemski, but I like the value on his turnovers line instead. He’s committed multiple turnovers in two of his past three outings and is averaging 1.07 more turnovers per 100 possessions without Curry this year.

The Rockets rank No. 2 in defensive rating this season. They could make life difficult for the second-year guard in a featured role.

Fred VanVleet Over 5.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐

VanVleet is questionable for this game, but I like his chances of cashing the Over on his assists prop if he does play. The Houston point guard hasn’t recorded more than five assists in his last three games, but the Warriors provide an excellent opportunity to change that.

The Warriors rank in the top five in defensive rating for the season, but that mark has been 18th over the past two weeks. This is a big reason Golden State has dropped five games in a row, and it's unlikely to change without Green.

This line is as high as -140 at some of our best sports betting apps, so it’s worth taking advantage of this discount at DraftKings.
