We're diving into the NBA player stat prop market with our best bets for scoring, rebounding, and assists leader.

The 2022-23 NBA season is just 10 days away. For obvious reasons, this is music to the ears of basketball fans all across the world.

When we talk about basketball, the common stats that come to mind are scoring, rebounding, and assists.

Joel Embiid, Rudy Gobert, and Chris Paul led all NBA players in these areas last season. Will that trend repeat itself?

Here’s an early look at players with the best odds to be the top dog in these categories in 2022-23.

NBA Player Stat Prop Picks: Scoring Leader

Joel Embiid scoring champ (+280 via DraftKings)

Embiid is one of the most dominant big men in the league today. He has a nice post-up game. He has a nice mid-range game as well. Additionally, Embiid converted 37.1 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc on a career-high 3.7 attempts per contest.

Furthermore, the Philadelphia 76ers star posted his highest scoring average in his career last season. He averaged 30.6 points per contest. These factors could explain why he’s also the front-runner on FanDuel (+350).

Only 2.4 points separated the top-five leaders in points per game last season. In other words, the competition in this category will be fierce, to say the least.

But based on the aforementioned stats, I’m all in on Embiid having the best odds to win the scoring title because he has increased his scoring average in the last three seasons.

NBA Player Stat Prop Picks: Rebounding Leader

Rudy Gobert (+330 via FanDuel)

Gobert has proven to be a valuable presence on the defensive end of the court. The fact that he’s averaged over two blocks per contest during his nine-year career speaks to that fact. A factor that is overlooked about Gobert’s game is that he does a solid job on the boards as well.

Over the past five seasons, he’s averaged at least 10.7 rebounds per outing, including 13.5 rebounds per contest in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. Not too shabby by any means.

Last year, however, Gobert increased his rebounding average to a career-best 14.7 per outing. And as a result, he won his first rebounding title.

One interesting thing to remember here is Gobert was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the offseason. And playing with a new cast of characters could somewhat affect his rebounding numbers next season.

NBA Player Stat Prop Picks: Assist Leader

James Harden (+170 via DraftKings)

James Harden began his NBA career in a sixth-man role with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was eventually traded to the Houston Rockets (mostly due to financial reasons) and he became one of the most dynamic scorers in the NBA.

Take a look at his scoring average during an impressive five-year stretch from 2014-15 through 2019-20.

As illustrated in the above table, Harden also put together a three-year run in which he averaged over 30 points per contest.

Yes, Harden’s scoring numbers have fallen off a bit during his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets (23.4 PPG in 80 games) and the 76ers (21 PPG in 21 games). On the flip side of the narrative, Harden has become a willing and capable facilitator.

Over the last two seasons, although he’s played for three different teams during that span, Harden has averaged 10.8 and 10.3 assists per game, respectively. Not only that, he finished second only to Paul in this category last season. Paul led the league with 10.8 assists per contest.

Being that Harden finished just behind Paul last season, I like the chances of him being in the running for the league’s assist leader.
