Last Updated: August 5, 2024 3:17 PM EDT • 2 min read.
After a perfect 3-0 start to the Olympic men's basketball tournament, Germany is favored by 7.5 points across our best sports betting sites to beat Greece in Tuesday's quarterfinals, which tip off at 5 a.m. ET from AccorHotels Arena in Paris.
Germany has the second-shortest men's Olympic basketball odds to win gold, and our Germany vs. Greece prediction and expert picks anticipate a strong showing in the favorites' first must-win game of this tournament.

- Germany -7.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Germany Over 84.5 points (-120) ⭐⭐⭐
- Dennis Schroder Over 8.5 assists (+124) ⭐⭐⭐
Prediction: Germany -7.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
There's no doubt that the stakes are raised in the quarterfinals, but that doesn't mean the level of competition will jump for Germany after its 3-0 start.
I was skeptical of this group entering the tournament, but it blitzed a competitive Group B with three double-digit wins - including a 14-point win over France, which features two NBA stars in Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert.
Two-time MVP winner Giannis Antetokounmpo certainly presents a challenge for Germany's defense, but his supporting cast is even worse than France's and he led his team to just one win in arguably the weakest group.
Odds: -110 | Implied probability: 52.38%
Prediction: Germany Over 84.5 points ⭐⭐⭐
This Germany roster isn't exactly laden with defensive stoppers, but its offense has led the way through this tournament.
The Germans averaged 89.3 points in the group stage, clearing this total in all three contests while shooting 50.5% from the floor. It helps to have two high-level scorers in Franz Wagner (21.7 PPG) and Dennis Schroder (19.7), but they're just two of the team's five players averaging double figures.
Greece struggled to contain Canada (86 points) and Spain (84) in Group A action, and I don't see that changing against an even more lethal test on Tuesday.
Odds: -120 | Implied probability: 54.55%
Prediction: Dennis Schroder Over 8.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐
Schroder has been known as a solid if unremarkable playmaker across his 11-year NBA career, but he's blossomed as the lead facilitator for Germany.
The 30-year-old guard is averaging nine assists in this tournament, having cleared this total twice in three games after a nine-assist effort against France. He's the only German averaging more than 2.3 dimes per game, and he leads the team with 31 minutes per contest, too.
He should have plenty of opportunity for helpers against this so-so Greece defense, especially if he sees a minor bump in playing time in a more pivotal quarterfinal spot. If he clears this total once again, a $10 bet would return a cool $12.40 in profit.
Odds: +124 | Implied probability: 44.64%
