France and Germany have both started 2-0 in the Olympic men's basketball tournament to qualify for the quarterfinals. The winner of Friday's matchup at 3 p.m. ET will also secure the top seed in Group B as we offer our France vs. Germany prediction and expert picks.

Germany is favored by 3.5 points across our best sports betting sites, which also have Friday's favorites dealing slightly ahead of host France by the men's Olympic basketball odds to win the entire tournament.

  • France +4.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Victor Wembanyama Over 2.5 blocks (+120) ⭐⭐⭐

Prediction: France +4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you're beholden to the transitive property, surely you like Germany's chances after it blew out a Japan team that took France to overtime.

It's never that simple, though, and I haven't forgotten that the French entered this tournament with much shorter odds than the Germans. I also have more faith in Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert in a one-game setting than I do in Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder, respectively.

While most shops have Germany as a 3.5-point favorite, you can grab France +4.5 if you shop around across our best sportsbooks, which makes this bet that much sweeter.

Odds: -110 | Implied probability: 52.38%

Prediction: Victor Wembanyama Over 2.5 blocks ⭐⭐⭐

Wembanyama hasn't been as active defensively as we've come to expect from the 7-4 superstar. But I'm still intrigued by the plus-money price on a reasonable total.

The French phenom blocked two shots against Japan after finishing with three blocks in the opener against Brazil. That would suggest he'd be dealing around even money to clear 2.5 blocks, though he's instead catching +120 odds to block three shots, which would pay out $12 in profit on a $10 wager.

I'd suspect the elevated competition and high stakes will only bring out the best in the young star, especially with so many active perimeter scorers for Germany likely trying to test the defensive stud on the condensed court at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Odds: +120 | Implied probability: 52.38%
