Hawks vs. Knicks NBA Player Prop Picks & Odds Tonight: NBA Cup
Last Updated: December 11, 2024 12:04 PM EST • 3 min 28 sec read.
Trae Young makes his long-awaited return to the Garden when the Atlanta Hawks meet the New York Knicks tonight in the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup.
The Knicks sit third in the NBA Cup odds entering the matchup, with the Hawks in sixth. New York is also third in the NBA championship odds.
Our Hawks vs. Knicks player props expect Young to come out firing and cash a points line that’s set dangerously low.
We’re also targeting New York’s dynamic duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns to keep producing at home when the Hawks and Knicks tip off at 7 p.m. ET from Madison Square Garden in New York.

Trae Young Over 20.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: -105 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 51.22%
Bonus bets will expire in 7 days. One new customer offer only. Additional terms and conditions apply.
Ice Trae returns to Madison Square Garden for the first time since Dec. 7, 2022, and we’re expecting a significant game from Atlanta’s superstar.
Young became Public Enemy No. 1 to Spike Lee and Knicks fans during the 2021 playoffs while averaging 29.2 points in five games against New York during the first round. He dropped 36 points in the series-clinching Game 5 victory, and Young took a bow after draining a logo 3-pointer during the final minute.
Young leads the NBA in assists with a career-best 12.2 per game, and he’s focusing this season on facilitating rather than scoring. His 20.9 points per game are Young's fewest since the star's rookie campaign. But given the opponent and the playoff-like atmosphere of this matchup, we’re expecting him to come out aggressively as a scorer.
The guard is averaging 24.3 points per game across eight career regular-season trips to the Mecca, including a pair of 40-burgers. He hit the Over here during all of his five playoff games against New York.
Young has recorded 21-plus points in 12 of 24 games this season, and we fully expect him to embrace his villain role and do it again tonight.
Jalen Brunson Over 35.5 points + assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: -104 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 50.98%
New customers only. Deposit min. $5. Place first bet of $5+ and win $150 in Bonus Bets (within 72 hours).
Brunson has been great as a facilitator during his last two games while dishing out double-digit dimes. He’s averaging a career-high 7.8 assists to go with 25.2 points per game this campaign.
The guard is averaging 33 points + assists this season, and he’s hit the Over on this line in 10 of 24 contests. Brunson is also averaging 31.5 points + assists across his last four meetings with the Hawks.
Though tonight’s matchup isn’t a playoff game, it's an elimination contest that should come with a postseason-like feel. Brunson has averaged a whopping 30.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and four assists throughout 24 playoff outings for the Knicks.
We’re counting on him to bring that same energy and top-tier play tonight against Trae and Co.
Karl-Anthony Towns Over 13.5 rebounds ⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: +120 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 45.45%
Towns is the NBA’s second-leading rebounder while averaging 13.3 boards per game, sitting narrowly behind Nikola Jokic. KAT has been pulling down 13.7 boards per outing at home this season, so he’ll simply need to be average to cash this prop tonight.
The Hawks have allowed the 11th-most rebounds per game this year, and Towns pulled down 16 in his first matchup of the season against them at State Farm Arena. He’s hit the Over here in four straight games and seven of eight.
Towns’ rebound line is set at 12.5 with odds of -125 or shorter at our best sports betting sites, but we can do better. For just one additional rebound, the odds jump to +120 for a much more profitable potential outcome.
