NBA Christmas Day Parlay Predictions

Mavericks moneyline (-300) vs. Lakers ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Let’s be honest, the spread of this game is starting to get a little wild. The Mavs are far better at home than they are on the road and the Lakers are without Anthony Davis (the driving force of their recent win streak). Neither of those conditions factor into LeBron James’ phenomenal play on Christmas Day. In 16 appearances on December 25, he’s averaged 26.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.8 3-pointers per game and his teams are 10-6 on Christmas Day. I’m expecting him to put on a show and keep the Lakers competitive on the national stage.

I’m not picking the Lakers to win. James should make things interesting and even help the Lakers cover the growing spread, but Dallas is the superior team with home court advantage. Dallas is 12-5 straight up at home while the Lakers are 5-11 on the road this season. Over the last two seasons, the Lakers are 8-20 straight up on the road without Anthony Davis.

Both teams have been absolutely dreadful against the spread, and as I mentioned in our NBA Christmas Day Best Bets, I won’t go near it. I love the Over, and I’m confident in the Mavs’ moneyline. With such short odds, I won’t be betting this one as a straight bet, but I love it as the foundational pick of our three-leg Christmas Day parlay.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 44.5 points + rebounds (-102) vs. Celtics ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Giannis has had a great statistical run against Boston over the last five seasons. In 16 regular season games since 2017-18, the Greek Freak has averaged 29.1 points and 11.3 rebounds while posting 11 double-doubles. He recorded no fewer than eight rebounds in any of those contests, scored at least 30 points in nine games and scored at least 25 in 12 of them.

Antetokounmpo was equally impressive in last season’s Eastern Conference Semifinals, averaging 33.9 points and 14.7 rebounds while posting six double-doubles. He scored at least 40 points in three of those games, at least 30 in four and at least 25 in six. The Celtics’ No. 1 defense from 2021-22 is long gone, and the team ranks a modest 13th in opponent points per game and opponent points in the paint per game. Boston is worse defensively at home, however, giving up the 10th most points per game at TD Garden.

The odds on Giannis to record a double-double are -350, which isn’t too appealing, even in a parlay. Instead, we can roll two legs into one by betting his point and rebound outputs to combine for more than 44.5 for odds of -102. That’s more like it!

Nikola Jokic triple-double (+160) vs. Suns ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We kicked off our Christmas Day parlay with a sturdy short-odds bet on the Mavericks to win at home against the depleted Lakers. We’ll round it out with our longest odds of the day on the Joker to add to his triple-double streak. Jokic posted back-to-back triple-doubles before falling two rebounds shy of a third in Friday’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jokic ranks sixth all-time in triple-doubles with 82, and 49 of those (59.7%) have come at home. He has three triple-doubles in his career against the Suns, and he can get there again on Christmas Day. In 12 matchups with Phoenix over the last five seasons, Jokic has seven double-doubles, all three of his triple-doubles and one game that was one rebound away from another triple-double.

The two-time MVP is playing some of the best basketball of his career, and we’ll take the plus-money odds to give our Christmas Day NBA parlay a nice little boost.
