We’re taking the Denver Nuggets to dispatch the Phoenix Suns at home and the Memphis Grizzlies to steal a rare win by the visiting team in Golden State. The Boston Celtics are favored to handle business at home against the visiting Milwaukee Bucks, and we can get value by betting on the Celtics to cover.

NBA Top Picks for Christmas Day
Moneyline: Nuggets (-175) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Suns head North to face a Denver team that’s won six of its last seven games. Phoenix dropped a second straight game in Friday’s ugly, blowout loss to Memphis, bringing the team’s record to 1-4 with Devin Booker sidelined. Booker is dealing with a groin injury and may be out on Christmas as well.
Denver is one of the winningest teams at home this season with an 11-3 mark in the Mile High City, while Phoenix is just 5-9 on the road. How bad have things been for the Suns over the last couple of games? The team played 12 guys in the first half of Friday’s 25-point loss, and Phoenix is really feeling the heat with Booker and key role players like Cam Payne sidelined.
Moneyline: Grizzlies (-180) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Golden State’s home/road splits have been historically dichotomous this season, as the Dubs are 12-2 at home compared to 3-16 on the road. That includes a 1-5 record across the team’s recent six-game road trip.
The Grizzlies are just 7-9 on the road this season, but the Warriors will be without Stephen Curry as he deals with a shoulder injury, and this will be the team’s first home game without the Chef in 2022-23. The trends favor Golden State, but we can throw those trends out with Curry sidelined. Golden State’s injury list also includes Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson, so the team’s odds of winning will be even lower if one or both sit.
The Warriors can be wily and competitive, especially at home, so we’re not touching the spread and instead going for the safer moneyline wager. Bet on Ja Morant and Co. to get the job done on the road.

Total: Lakers-Mavericks Over 225.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Mavs sit one game above .500 after defeating the Houston Rockets on Friday, while the Lakers are on a crash course for another lost season with Anthony Davis out indefinitely. The Lakers are just 5-11 ATS on the road, while Dallas is 5-10-2 ATS at home. Yuck. The Mavs are a healthy 12-5 straight up at home, but the moneyline odds are understandably short. We’ll target the area in which both teams excel: hitting the Over.
The Lakers are 19-13 to the Over overall and the Mavs are 18-15. Both teams are playing to a top-nine Over rate. The Lakers are 10-6 to the Over on the road, while Dallas is 10-7 at home. The spread is set pretty high at 8.5 points, but LeBron James has excelled on Christmas Day throughout his career (10-6 record), so we won’t count the Lakers out.
This may shape up to be a close game, and with it, plenty of points from two of the league’s biggest superstars. Mavs guard Luka Doncic scored 50 points on Friday, and he’ll look to keep that momentum going on national television Sunday.
Spread: Celtics -4.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Celtics had lost three straight home game before a much-needed win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. We’re expecting the Celtics to win a second straight on Christmas, but the spread bet offers the best odds.
The Celtics are 10-7 ATS at home and 10-7 as home favorites, while the Bucks are 5-8-2 ATS on the road and 2-3 as road dogs. The Bucks are a pitiful 3-14 ATS vs. Boston in 17 regular season meetings since 2017-18, and Milwaukee isn’t the same team on the road as it is at home. We’ll bank on the home team that just got back on track and take Boston to cover.
