Two NBA title contenders face off in the desert tonight when the Phoenix Suns (5-1) host the Philadelphia 76ers (1-4) for a 10:15 p.m. ET tipoff on NBA TV.

The Suns are off to a strong start under new coach Mike Budenholzer with their offense showing major improvement from a year ago. That's one reason why we're targeting two Phoenix players in our 76ers vs. Suns player prop bets for tonight's game.

Philadelphia star Joel Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for a sixth straight game to open the season, while Paul George (knee) is questionable to make his 76ers debut tonight for one of the NBA championship odds favorites.

Andre Drummond is slated to start for Embiid and Kelly Oubre Jr. would continue to see an expanded role if George can’t suit up.

This number is down a few points because of the possibility that George might play for the Sixers tonight. Yet we’ve seen over the past few seasons that Maxey is typically more efficient when he has a co-star on the floor if Joel Embiid is inactive.

The Suns defense will have to respect George as a shooter and secondary playmaker, but PG should also show some rust since he hasn’t seen the floor since early in the preseason.

Meanwhile, Maxey - who turns 24 today - is averaging 33.3 points per game over 41.8 minutes with a 33.3% usage rate over his last three games. The young star rarely comes off the court and can produce against this Suns defense.

Tyus Jones prop bet: Under 21.5 points + rebounds + assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -120 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 54.55%

Bradley Beal returned to the Suns' lineup on Saturday, and Jones topped this total for the first time in four opportunities this season with his backcourt mate active.

In his previous three outings with Beal active, Jones averaged 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists to fall short of this prop total in all three matchups. Beal (elbow) is questionable tonight but seems likely to suit up.

The Sixers defense is allowing the second-fewest 3-point attempts per game this season, and the majority of field-goal attempts for Jones in this crowded offense have come from beyond the arc. Philadelphia’s defense could be even better on the perimeter if George is able to play.

Jones' 13.5% usage rate is the lowest mark for the veteran guard since the 2017-18 season, and I don't expect him to clear this mark tonight.

Jusuf Nurkic prop bet: Over 17.5 points + rebounds ⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -115 via bet365 | Implied probability: 53.49%

Nurkic has been victimized by tough matchups in recent outings, yet he still finished Over this number with three points and 15 rebounds in 24 minutes in his last outing against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 76ers are struggling on offense while allowing the fifth-most rebounds per game (57.2) to opponents this season. Philly is starting a true center in Andre Drummond, and Nurkic is unlikely to get into foul trouble or get benched for a quicker center in that matchup.

Nurkic has scored in double figures in three straight matchups against the 76ers, posting 10 points and 14 rebounds in 31 minutes last March with Embiid inactive.
