Yankees vs. Dodgers Prediction, Prop Bets & Odds Tonight: World Series Game 2
Last Updated: October 26, 2024 9:06 AM EDT • 4 min 12 sec read.
The first game of the World Series could not have been filled with more drama. Now the Los Angeles Dodgers look to build off last night’s walk-off home run when facing the New York Yankees tonight. Predictably, the Dodgers are now far heavier favorites in the World Series odds.
- Freddie Freeman hit the second walk-off home run with two outs in World Series history in Game 1, and he skyrocketed up the World Series MVP odds as a result
- The Yankees lost for the first time in four Gerrit Cole starts this postseason
- New York is the largest underdog it has been all playoffs heading into Game 2
New York doesn't get much time to stew over last night’s loss, with the first pitch from Dodger Stadium scheduled for 8:08 p.m. ET on FOX again tonight.
Our Yankees vs. Dodgers prediction expects the AL pennant winners to show some resolve and even the series as undervalued underdogs.

Who will win Yankees vs. Dodgers?
First pitch: 8:08 p.m. ET, Dodger Stadium
Yankees to win ⭐⭐⭐
The Yankees earned every opportunity to do what they set out to accomplish and take home-field advantage away from the Dodgers last night. But I expect them to show resolve and earn a split of the first two World Series games tonight behind arguably their best postseason pitcher so far.
The Yankees are 2-0 with a plus-6 run differential in Carlos Rodon’s last two starts, largely because the southpaw has possessed filthy stuff. Rodon has tallied 22 strikeouts to just one walk, and he's recorded called-strike plus whiff rates (CSW%) of 35%, 38%, and 27% against the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians thus far.
This is only a three-star play, as Los Angeles posted an MLB-best 136 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers since Aug. 19.
But Rodon’s best month of the season was September, when he pitched to a 2.20 ERA across five starts. He's no stranger to the Dodgers too after pitching for the Giants in 2022 before donning the pinstripes.

Prediction: Mookie Betts Under 0.5 hits ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: +170 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 37.04%
Bonus bets will expire in 7 days. One new customer offer only. Additional terms and conditions apply.
My analysis
Mookie Betts was batting .342 in his previous nine postseason games before last night’s 0-for-3 performance. He started the postseason with consecutive hitless games. There's great value on this play, as he's 1-for-19 with four strikeouts in his career against Rodon.
Betts is one of the few players with an O/U of 1.5 total bases (compared to 0.5). But the Under is juiced as high as -165 at DraftKings, suggesting a low ceiling.
I'm making this wager at BetMGM, as there's a 10-cent difference between its +170 odds and the +160 DraftKings is offering.
Aaron Judge prop bet
Prediction: Aaron Judge Under 0.5 walks ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: +120 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 45.45%
Terms and conditions apply.
My analysis
Aaron Judge has drawn seven walks this postseason, including one in six out of 10 games. However, he's registered just one walk in his last five outings, and the Dodgers intentionally walking Juan Soto to get to Judge in a key spot last night suggests they don't fear the Yankees' slugger.
Judge is getting as high as a 62.26% implied probability to draw a walk based on DraftKings’ -165 odds. But that's unplayable given Judge’s recent ways.
Shohei Ohtani prop bet
Prediction: Over 0.5 runs ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: -120 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 54.55%
My analysis
Shohei Ohtani scored 134 runs during the regular season, 31 more than his previous career-high. And he's not afraid to push the envelope on the base paths, as evidenced by him smartly taking the extra base on a botched relay throw from Soto to Gleyber Torres after a double yesterday.
The 54.55% implied probability for Ohtani to score at least one run is completely justified. He's done that in four of his last five playoff games (and seven of 12 overall). A winning $10 wager would pay out $18.33.
