Shohei Ohtani Home Run Odds & Picks: World Series Game 1
Last Updated: October 25, 2024 12:35 PM EDT • 2 min 35 sec read.
In his first taste of postseason action after wasting six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, Shohei Ohtani is certainly making up for lost time with an expectedly amazing hitting performance through 11 games. Will he continue to make an impact in Game 1 of the World Series?
Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers are set to host the New York Yankees for at least two games of the World Series, with Game 1 getting underway at 8:08 p.m. ET (FOX) from Dodger Stadium on Friday.
The World Series MVP odds favorite drilled three home runs across the NLDS and NLCS, and he was particularly impressive in the latter. Ohtani tortured the Mets, with two long balls and a .364/.548/.636 slash line across six games.
If you read our World Series staff picks, you'd know SBR's Esten McLaren is backing Ohtani to enjoy a big series, and it all starts with an epic showdown between the slugger and Gerrit Cole in Game 1.
The top bet for Game 1 in my Yankees vs. Dodgers prediction is Ohtani stealing a base. But what about his home run props?

Shohei Ohtani Under 0.5 home runs ⭐
Best odds: -275 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 73.33%
Ohtani's Dodgers serve as the favorites by the World Series odds. But if they win Game 1, I wouldn't bet on it being due to an Ohtani homer.
You'll notice in both the World Series expert picks and Mike Spector's World Series predictions that names such as Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez, among others, are being more regularly tossed around in the World Series MVP conversation.
Now, that's not to say Ohtani won't win it, and it's instead a product of his odds being too short. The same is also the issue with his Game 1 home run prop.
Ohtani to hit a home run is trading at the same price as the Aaron Judge home run odds. But Ohtani's projection is significantly lower, ranging from 0.30 to 0.34 compared to Judge's 0.37 to 0.45.
But there isn't any value in betting the Under, which is why this is only a one-star pick. I would advise just completely ignoring Ohtani's home run props on Friday. Instead, back Ohtani to seal a base.
