Dodgers vs. Rockies Prediction & Odds Today: Ohtani Closes Out Regular Season at Coors
Last Updated: September 27, 2024 2:43 PM EDT • 3 min 6 sec read.
The Los Angeles Dodgers travel to Denver to take on the Colorado Rockies fresh off clinching the NL West with Thursday's victory over the San Diego Padres, and it's fair to wonder if they'll be feeling the effects of their postgame celebration.
- The Dodgers don't have much to play for on Friday, but does it even matter against the lowly Rockies?
- Los Angeles is still trading as a -190 favorite, and the total for this game is set at 11.5, telling us one of our best sports betting sites believes the road team will still show up
- Shohei Ohtani finished the three-game series against the Padres without a home run, but does he end that streak at hitter-friendly Coors Field?
First pitch for this contest is expected for 8:10 p.m. ET, and our Dodgers vs. Rockies prediction believes the road club will do enough to earn a relatively meaningless victory.

Who will win Dodgers vs. Rockies?
First pitch: 8:10 p.m. ET, Coors Field
Dodgers to win (-190) ⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: | Implied probability: 65.52%
Sure, this game doesn't matter much for the Dodgers. But the Rockies haven't had anything to play for over the last *checks notes* 159 games.
L.A. is still a heavy favorite for good reason on Friday. Even if the Dodgers sit a number of starters - including the now-injured Freddie Freeman - they still boast enough talent to blow the Rockies out of the water.
The Rockies are set to finish with likely the third-worst record in baseball. They own the second-worst offense in the league and the worst pitching.
Taking the mound for the home team is Cal Quantrill, who's walked 15 batters across his last three starts. He faced the Dodgers in his previous outing, going only 4 2/3 innings and giving up three earned runs on six hits and four walks.
I'm not sure what the Dodgers will be more excited for: clinching the NL West on Thursday or facing Quantrill on Friday.
Meanwhile, we still have no idea who's pitching for the Dodgers. Betway simply has it listed as "Undefined." Oddly enough, I think "Undefined" may be better than Quantrill.
The best bet for this game might just be the Over on 11.5 at +100. I'd probably make that a four-star pick and could see myself betting it long before I touch either team on the moneyline.
Additionally, you can just have fun watching and cheer for runs, rather than sweat out the performance of a potentially weakened Dodgers lineup.

Prediction: Ohtani to hit a home run (+185) ⭐⭐
Even if the Dodgers sit a number of starters, you have to imagine Ohtani will play. After all, it's easy being just a designated hitter, according to people who still believe Francisco Lindor should win NL MVP.
In all seriousness, I do expect Ohtani to suit up and continue to add to his otherworldly 2024 resume. He enters this contest with 53 home runs and 56 stolen bases, and as is the case with every point LeBron James scores going forward, Ohtani is simply adding to the impossible combination of nukes and steals that no one will ever top.
Coors will be extremely hitter-friendly as usual. The stadium boosts home run probability by 28% and runs by 39% versus the league average, according to Ballpark Pal's park factors.
If Ohtani gets a hold of one, and he usually does - he hit a 102.8-mph single on Thursday - then the unicorn has a very good chance of going yard against the Rockies.
Additionally, Quantrill comes in with one of the highest home-runs-per-fly-ball rates in the league. Bring your glove to the ballpark if you're sitting in the outfield.
Best odds: | Implied probability: 35.09%
