The PGA Tour will soon return from its (brief) winter hiatus. The 2025 golf season will begin with the first round of The Sentry on Thursday, Jan. 2 in Hawaii (Plantation Course at Kapalua).

Though the full field won't be finalized until the week before the tournament, it's no surprise to see Scottie Scheffler as the opening favorite by the 2025 Sentry odds from our best golf betting sites.

Scheffler's early odds range from a low of +260 to a high of +350. A winning $10 bet at the +350 odds would return a modest profit of $35 with an implied win probability of 22.22%.

But bettors must note this is the first Signature Event of the PGA Tour season, and there will be a highly accomplished field of 60-plus golfers in attendance. Yet, Chris Kirk won this event with pre-tournament odds of +20000 last year, so there is hope the low scores in Hawaii open the door for another long-shot winner.

Scheffler's made three appearances in The Sentry at Kapalua. He's finished T-13, T-7, and T-5. With that highly respectable course history, as well as the tournament's status as a Signature Event, it's no surprise to see him set as the heavy betting favorite by The Sentry odds.

Scheffler's Sentry odds are as low as +260 at DraftKings. Those odds would return $9 less in profit on a winning $10 bet vs. the early +350 odds from Caesars.

As in any tournament, you're betting against Scheffler at your own risk.

He's the No. 1 golfer in the  (OWGR) for a reason, but we saw Kirk win this with +20000 odds last year. The easy conditions and low scores at the Plantation Course can turn it into a putting event if the wind doesn't become a major factor.

I'd look elsewhere.
