A new PGA Tour event will be held this week in Ivins, Utah, and Keith Mitchell and Beau Hossler are among the betting favorites by the odds across our best golf betting sites.

Mitchell and Hossler were both hard-luck losers in last week's Sanderson Farms Championship, won by in a playoff.

The third of eight events comprising the PGA Tour's 2024 fall swing is the first PGA Tour event to be held at Black Desert Resort Golf Course. Round 1 tees off Thursday, and play continues through Sunday's final round.

The Black Desert Resort course is, by all accounts and purposes, a brand new course. It was completed last year and this is the first Tour event being hosted in the state of Utah in over 60 years.

I was tempted to lean a little bit more into accuracy, simply because the rough areas are thinner strips than we’re used to seeing, and the natural desert and lava rock areas that await extremely wayward drives will certainly pose a problem. Yet, sweeping 30-plus-yard landing spots in the resort-style fairways are without threat of heavy rough and there are only two water hazards.

I’m not as concerned with operations off the tee.

The course is at a high altitude so its 7,300-plus yards listed on the scorecard will not be cumbersome to any and all golfers. I’m keying in on hot putters and golfers whose games are in the best overall shape.

Patrick Fishburn top 10 finish ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fishburn left a little meat on the bone at the Sanderson Farms Championship last week, signing off on a card that left him with a 48th-place finish. Nevertheless, he had a third-place finish a few weeks ago at the ProCore Championship.

He comes into this week ranked fourth overall in my trend table and third overall in my player pool.

In the field, he ranks in the top 10 in putting, strokes gained: off the tee, ball striking, tee to green, and distance off the tee. He’s found success this season at similarly wide-open courses with resort-style layouts, such as Corales Puntacana, Myrtle Beach, ISCO, and Barracuda.

Andrew Novak top 20 finish ⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +225 via BetRivers | Implied probability: 30.77%

Novak started his fall swing last week at Sanderson and placed a very respectable T-23. Novak is a consistent cutmaker and has four top-10 finishes this season. He is 10th overall in my trend table and seventh overall in my player pool. He also ranks top in the field in ball striking and approach, pointing to elite iron play.

The better than 2-1 price tag here at BetRivers on a top 20 finish is heads and shoulders the best price on this finishing position for Novak, with the rest of our best sports betting sites settling in between 1.5-1 to 1.8-1, implying a near coin flip versus the 30% implied probability that BetRivers is offering.

Seamus Power top European ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Power comes into this championship in incredible form. He ranks 19th in my trend table, which is incredible in and of itself because he has not missed a cut since the U.S. Open in June.

That is a key indicator that he is improving his game which has already been in terrific shape. Top 10 in the field off the tee, ball striking and tee to green, Power also sits highly in putting and accuracy - both in the top 20 range.

Power’s main competition in this market is Stephan Jaeger with Matti Schmid and Harry Hall being the other outside threats, so to speak, and while Jaeger and Power tied in the Sanderson Farms Championship last week, Power has a much stronger resume over the past few months.
