The Las Vegas Bowl closes out a loaded Friday of bowl action with two teams that would call the season a disappointment, but both still have the chance to end on a high note when action gets going at 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN) from Allegiant Stadium

Backing Ja'Kobi Lane to find the end zone is more about the volume he's expected to see rather than the actual matchup.

Lincoln Riley's squad has been hit hard by the transfer portal and will be without four of its top six leaders in receiving yards - that includes star running back Woody Marks, who has opted out.

As a result, Lane and Makai Lemon are the Trojans' two best options for scoring.

While Lemon is the team's leading receiver, Lane has been the go-to scoring threat since QB Jayden Maiava took over as the starter. The sophomore receiver has scored four times in his last two games and leads the Trojans in TDs (nine).

Plus, with the Aggies down Stewart, Turner, and Scourton, their defense should be easier to attack through the air - it also allowed the sixth-most TD passes in the SEC (16).

With Texas A&M's Amari Daniels dealing at -250 odds to put six on the board, Lane is the best bet available. If he scores, a $10 wager pays an $8 profit.

The biggest reason Marcel Reed usurped Conner Weigman as the Aggies' starting QB is because of what he brings to the table as a runner. His mobility completely reignited this offense, and that's why I expect to see a heavy dose of him in the run game against USC.

The Trojans are just 54th in on defense this season and allow 140.4 rushing yards per game. Reed has gone for 60-plus in two straight outings and has cleared 51.5 in five games this season, despite spending a chunk of the year as the backup.

Even with him seeing fewer carries than many of the players ahead of him, Reed still managed to finish with the 22nd-most runs of 10-plus yards this season (21) among QBs, per . That explosiveness should help him turn a $10 bet into an $8.70 profit.

Jayden Maiava Over 250.5 passing yards ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Miller Moss is gone, and it's fair to assume Riley wants to make sure he's made the right choice with Maiava. A strong performance could mean not looking to replace the sophomore with a portal QB, so it feels likely the Trojans will lean into the passing game to see what they've got.

To further support Maiava dropping back at a high frequency, USC is down its top two rushers with Marks opting out and Quinten Joyner in the portal. That means Bryan Jackson and his 122 career rushing yards will start.

It only helps USC that Texas A&M doesn't have its three best pass-rushers on a defense that ranks outside the top 25 in EPA per dropback. Plus, Riley has been pass-happy with Maiava averaging 280 passing yards on 39.6 pass attempts per game in his three starts.
