While it would boost our interest in the Over to have redshirt freshman QB Gio Lopez on the field for South Alabama (he's questionable), we like that play regardless because of Western Michigan’s 122nd-ranked adjusted defensive efficiency.

The Broncos have allowed 31.5 points per game (103rd in FBS). South Alabama gives up 26.7 PPG, and its weak pass defense ranks near the bottom of the country.

Both the Jaguars and the Broncos played six games that cleared this total during the season. But with five combined results featuring 80-plus total points between these two teams, a true shootout is in play on Saturday.

Hayden Wolff Over 188.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Though Western Michigan’s second-leading pass-catcher Blake Bosma will be out for this game with the tight end entering the transfer portal, sixth-year senior QB Hayden Wolff should be motivated.

Wolff didn’t light it up as a passer consistently during the season, averaging just a shade below this 188.5-yard passing line on a per-game basis. But he did clear this mark in exactly 50% of his games on the year.

In conjunction with our lean toward the Over, we like Wolff’s experience against a South Alabama secondary that ranked 117th in the FBS in pass defense, allowing 260.7 yards per game through the air.

Kentrel Bullock Over 86.5 rushing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

With South Alabama lead running back Fluff Bothwell entering into the transfer portal, Kentrel Bullock figures to be the primary rusher opposing a Western Michigan defense that allowed 190.6 yards per game on the ground this season (107th in the FBS). 

Bullock was given more carries than Bothwell this campaign, but a workload larger than 15 totes was rare. However, Bullock did log 100-plus rushing yards during both games when he received that load.

Given our lean toward a high-scoring affair and a sluggish defense with transfer portal opt-outs in the mix, we anticipate a significant game with Bullock getting an opportunity for a season-high in rushing.
