Ohio State vs. Oregon Opening Odds: Buckeyes Favored to Win Rematch in 2025 Rose Bowl
Last Updated: December 21, 2024 11:49 PM EST • 2 min 24 sec read.
As most predicted when the College Football Playoff bracket was released, the Oregon Ducks (13-0) and Ohio State Buckeyes (11-2) will meet in the 2025 Rose Bowl for a long-awaited rematch in the CFP quarterfinal, with kickoff set for Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. ET (ESPN) in Pasadena, Calif.
The opening Ohio State vs. Oregon odds from our best college football betting sites have the Buckeyes favored by 1.5 points in this second-round clash, which is a major shift from the early CFP quarterfinal look-ahead odds for this Big Ten rematch.

Ohio State vs. Oregon odds, early lines & betting analysis
It felt like a matter of time before the Ducks and Buckeyes would meet again after their epic duel at Autzen Stadium earlier this year. How fitting that the second act comes in the Rose Bowl for a shot at the CFP Final Four?
Oregon was lined as a 1.5-point favorite entering this weekend, so you could argue this is an overreaction to a big win by Ohio State in the first round. Yet the Buckeyes were favored by 3.5 points on the road when these teams met in October - is this line an overreaction to the Ducks' big win and subsequent perfect run?
In reality, these are probably the two best teams left in the college football championship odds race, and their offenses are both humming along even against the best defenses in the country. That's why the best play might be the Over, which these teams blew past in their first meeting.
With Heisman Trophy odds contender Dillon Gabriel and this Ducks offense firing in all cylinders, I'd be surprised if they don't find success in this matchup as they did in October. I also wouldn't want to bet against Ohio State's attack with the way that Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes' two star running backs are playing right now.
