College football player props for Saturday

Cam Porter Over 6.5 receiving yards (⭐⭐⭐⭐

As our C Jackson Cowart explained in his Utah vs. Northwestern prediction, there are a lot of factors pointing in favor of the Wildcats as 6.5-point underdogs. Utah has been ravaged by injuries, transfers, and opt-outs. Northwestern, meanwhile, remains mostly intact ahead of the team's first bowl game since 2020.

Motivation aside, I'm looking for an opportunity to bet on Northwestern senior running back Cam Porter in this game. He's really hit his stride for the Wildcats down the stretch, recording 16-plus carries in three straight games and averaging nearly 80 yards per game over that span. As such, his rushing prop (61.5 yards) via our best sports betting apps is certainly worth a look.

But the Utes are normally superior in the trenches, so I'm not eager to go up against that front. Instead, there is value in taking Porter to remain involved in the passing game, especially since we project him to record double-digit receiving yards. has this same prop listed at 7.5 yards, for comparison.

Porter has averaged only 8.6 receiving yards per game this season, but he has cleared this mark six different times. He has caught multiple passes on eight different occasions, including each of his last two outings. He even started the season with four receptions for 26 yards against Rutgers.

Porter can clear this mark on a single catch, but look for Northwestern to find ways to get him the rock in Las Vegas. If the Wildcats are forced to play from behind, that could be even better for this prop.

Chevan Cordeiro Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (, ) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You don't really love college football if you aren't rooting for San Jose State quarterback Chevan Cordeiro to finish his collegiate career with a strong performance against Coastal Carolina during the 2023 Hawaii Bowl.

Saturday will be a special moment for Cordeiro, as he began his collegiate career with three seasons with Hawaii. He then transferred to San Jose State these last two years, leading the Spartans to back-to-back winning seasons. He even practiced on the same field this week that Cordeiro grew up playing on in Honolulu.

But this pick isn't entirely based on vibes, though that wouldn't be a bad reason to make a play for this late-night showdown. We actually do project Cordeiro, who is the Mountain West's all-time leader in touchdowns, to throw more than two touchdown passes in a game with San Jose State as a nearly double-digit favorite.

Cordeiro threw for multiple touchdown passes in five of his last six contests, a stretch that happened to coincide with San Jose State's six-game win streak to close out the season. The signal-caller has thrown multiple TD passes in 11 of his 14 wins during his two seasons with San Jose State. That streak should continue on Saturday.
