The preseason No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs face the current AP No. 1 Texas Longhorns in arguably the biggest marquee matchup of the college football season to date.

  • Texas is off to its first 6-0 start since 2009 and leads the college football championship odds
  • Georgia is 2-6 all-time against AP No. 1 teams, and all of those games have been at neutral sites
  • Both Carson Beck and Quinn Ewers are in the top eight of the Heisman Trophy odds

Our Georgia vs. Texas player prop bets include the Under on a Longhorns receiver’s yardage total, while backing a different pass-catcher to find the end zone. Rob Paul makes his pick to win in his Georgia vs. Texas prediction.

Georgia vs. Texas touchdown pick

Gunnar Helm anytime touchdown scorer (+220) ⭐⭐⭐

The smartest anytime touchdown scorer wagers in this game are the ones that target the weakest unit in this game, which is the Bulldogs secondary.

Georgia ranks just inside the top 60 in EPA/pass. Its pass defense was torched not only by Jalen Milroe for 374 passing yards and 11.3 yards per attempt, but also Mississippi State’s backup quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr., who threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns last week.

Against the best defense he has faced all season, Helm was Texas’s best pass-catcher, hauling in a team-high seven catches at Michigan for a game-high 98 yards and a touchdown.

In fact, Helm has had his best games against the Longhorns' two ranked opponents, as he also had five catches for 91 yards and a touchdown against Oklahoma.

There is significant value to be had by making this wager at Caesars compared to some other top sports betting sites like DraftKings, which is on the low end of this market with +135 odds.

Through Caesars’ +220 odds, a winning $10 wager would net $22 in profits.

Best Georgia vs. Texas prop bets

Isaiah Bond Under 50.5 receiving yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bond was a clear focal point of the best defense he faced all season, as Michigan held him to three catches.

He left last week’s game against Oklahoma with an ankle injury, and though he is officially listed as questionable on the injury report, all signs point to him playing on Saturday.

While Georgia’s secondary is the most vulnerable part of its defense, it is fair to question how explosive Bond will be if the ankle injury limits him more than the coaching staff leads on.

Bond is a feast or famine receiver with two catches of 50 or more yards this season. But his season-high is also five receptions, and he has been held to three or fewer catches three times, so his floor for receiving yards is arguably the lowest of all the top wideouts in this game.

The O/U for Bond’s receiving yards is as low as 48.5 at FanDuel with the Under juiced to -114, so Under backers will find the best number at a comparable price at BetMGM.

Carson Beck Over 264.5 passing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Beck faces a Longhorns defense that ranks in the top six in PFF’s pass rush grade and EPA/pass Allowed. However, with the amount that he has been allowed to throw the football lately, he should go over this projected total on sheer volume.

Beck is coming off career highs in completions (36) and passing yards (459) against Mississippi State. The 459 passing yards were also the third-most in Georgia history.

With that stellar performance, Beck became the sixth SEC quarterback with 450-plus passing yards and a 75% completion percentage in a conference game over the last 20 seasons.

Texas’s secondary faces its first true test of the season after going against the now-benched Davis Warren of Michigan and Michael Hawkins Jr. of Oklahoma, who was missing his top five wide receivers in the Red River Rivalry.

BetMGM is much lower on this total than other competing sportsbooks, as Beck’s O/U for passing yards is as high as 272.5 at FanDuel. Thus, I am making my wager on the Over at BetMGM, where a winning $10 bet would pay out $18.70.
