After going 1-4 to start the season and losing to much more superior opponents like South Carolina and Virginia Tech, Old Dominion beat Bowling Green State University 30-27 to spark some momentum. The school committed no turnovers while scoring four touchdowns to get a huge road win over the Falcons.

Meanwhile, Georgia Southern has been on a tear in conference play while winning all three games against Sun Belt opponents, with its signature win coming at home against James Madison in Week 7. The Eagles also erased a 23-3 deficit to Marshall in Week 6 and won on a last-minute touchdown pass to wide receiver Derwin Burgess Jr. 

Offensive production

The team that gets more offensive production will ultimately win this matchup. Both defenses have been playing well recently, with each forcing at least five turnovers across the last three games.

Georgia Southern is more of a pass-centric team with QB J.C. French. Old Dominion establishes the run, recording 36-plus carries in six of seven games played in 2024.

French and the passing attack should be able to move the football through the air against Old Dominion’s defense, which has allowed a 61.8 completion rate and two-plus passing touchdowns in three of its last four games.
