The Arizona Wildcats host the 4-2 Colorado Buffaloes, as both teams look to pick up Big 12 victories.

When making my best Colorado vs. Arizona prediction, it’s hard not to be a little concerned about the home team. The Wildcats have lost three of their last four games, including a 41-19 loss at the BYU Cougars last week. Additionally, quarterback Noah Fifta has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns this season.

Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado offense enter Week 8 on fire. The Buffaloes have scored at least 28 points in four consecutive games, and Sanders has thrown for at least 290 yards in each contest. We examine if they can keep it up as we make our Week 8 college football predictions.

Sanders wins quarterback duel

Sanders is the fourth-leading passer in college football, while Fifita has thrown for the 21st-most yards. While neither defense is terrible against the pass, neither unit is very good. These are secondaries that can be beaten, and these offenses have the weapons to put points on the board.

However, Sanders is the much better quarterback in this matchup. He has significantly more touchdowns and yards than Fifita, and perhaps more importantly, he turns the ball over a lot less. Sanders has only thrown four interceptions this season, while Fifita has thrown nine.

While both teams have bad run defenses, neither offense is very efficient when running the ball. The Wildcats are better, with Quali Conley racking up 458 yards this season. But Conley has run for fewer than 100 yards in five of his six games, so even if he has a decent game, he won’t exploit the Buffaloes’ run defense like Kansas State did last weekend.

This is a game that the Buffaloes can win outright, so there’s no need to wait for a key number to take them to cover the spread.

Shedeur Sanders Over 300.5 passing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The total and price combo offered by bet365 provides phenomenal value. Only two other sportsbooks are offering this prop. Caesars also has the number set at 300.5, but it's asking -127 for the over. Meanwhile, FanDuel is asking -114 for over 313.5, which implies almost the same probability as bet365 for 13 more yards.

Sanders has thrown for at least 300 yards in four of his six games this season. He’s only thrown for fewer than 290 yards once, and that performance was back in Week 2. Last season, Sanders only threw for 262 yards against the Wildcats. However, this year’s Wildcats pass defense is worse than last year’s.

Based on recent defensive performances, this should be a shootout. Shootouts are when Sanders is at his best
