After taking one on the chin last week, surely Clemson is a lock to bounce back at home against Louisville, right? In the words of the legendary Lee Corso, “Not so fast, my friend!” Read on for our top college football upset picks and predictions for Week 11.
Last week, there were countless upsets that took place across the world of college football. Of course, some of the “upsets” in the College Football Playoff rankings weren’t actually considered upsets as far as the betting odds were concerned.
As for Week 11, it has proven quite difficult to find many favorites to put on our Disaster Watch list. After much deliberation and contemplation, we have ultimately zeroed in on three games that could be the scene of carnage on Saturday afternoon.
Here are our top college football upset picks for Week 11 (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook and SuperBook).

Week 11 College Football Upset Predictions
Purdue (+215)
Illinois failed to establish a two-game lead in the Big Ten West Division last week by losing at home to Michigan State. Purdue is one of the teams that enter Week 11 just one game back. As the Fighting Illini already own outright victories over each of Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota, a win on Saturday would clinch the division title and a spot in the Big Ten title game.
Taking nothing away from the job Bret Bielema has done in turning around the Illinois program, it’s hard to argue that the Illini should be laying nearly a full touchdown in this matchup. The Big Ten West has been a total crapshoot all season long. In terms of overall talent, Purdue and Illinois are very evenly matched.
There’s no denying that Purdue has the more explosive offense of the two teams. Of course, veteran quarterback Aidan O’Connell will need to be much sharper than he was a week ago against Iowa when the Boilermakers scored only three points. However, there is reason to doubt Illinois’ ability to defend Purdue's aerial onslaught for a full 60 minutes.
Old Dominion (+250)
This Saturday marks the first time that James Madison and Old Dominion have gone head-to-head at the FBS level. To say that both teams come limping into this in-state showdown would be an understatement. JMU got off to a great start but has now lost three consecutive games. Meanwhile, the Monarchs have also lost three straight and four of their last five.
Last week saw ODU get shut out on its home field by Marshall. That result certainly was a far cry from the 49 points the Monarchs scored in last month’s road upset of Coastal Carolina, the current frontrunner in the Sun Belt East Division.
Case in point, this offense has a whole lot more potential than what we have seen recently. Old Dominion returned 10 offensive starters from a year ago. The Monarchs have struggled to run the ball all season which, in a way, renders the stout James Madison run defense irrelevant.
Given that the best way to attack the Dukes’ defense is through the air, one has to presume that quarterback Hayden Wolff and the passing attack will bounce back with a solid effort at home this week.
Louisville (+230)
Bouncing back from last week’s loss could prove much easier said than done for Clemson on Saturday. The Tigers will host a red-hot Louisville team that has won four straight games and five of six after a slow start to the year.
QB Malik Cunningham and the Louisville offense appear to have found their groove in recent weeks. The Cardinals scored 31-plus points in six of their last seven games. The backfield tandem of Tiyon Evans and Jawhar Jordan made a stout James Madison run defense look silly last week with 243 combined rushing yards.
Clemson’s defense has been very sturdy against the run in its own right this season. However, previous opponents have shown an ability to gradually wear the Tigers’ defensive front down over the course of a game. The Cardinals have one of the best offensive lines in the ACC and will prove to be a formidable opponent for Clemson in the trenches.
The other important aspect of this matchup for bettors to note is that Louisville’s defense has quietly been one of the best in all of college football this season. The Cardinals rank 10th in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency, which actually puts them two spots ahead of the Notre Dame defense that stymied Clemson a week ago.
