Our Cincinnati vs. Colorado prediction aims to explain a matchup between two surprising teams in the Big 12.

Cincinnati (5-2) and Colorado (5-2) are both one win away from surpassing their preseason win total at our best sportsbooks. That has also led to both teams being profitable against the spread for bettors, as the Bearcats are 4-2-1 ATS and the Buffaloes are 5-2.

Colorado enters as a 6.5-point favorite for this marquee matchup on ESPN, but which team will continue to exceed expectations and deliver for bettors in Saturday's 10:15 p.m. ET kickoff at Folsom Field as part of our college football Week 9 predictions?

Cincinnati vs. Colorado opening odds:

The spread for Saturday’s Cincinnati vs. Colorado matchup has moved three points, creating slight value on the overlooked Bearcats based on College Football Insiders’ projected margin of 4.3 points.

Silence Sanders

There is a chance that Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has a quiet game, mainly because the Buffaloes should run the ball more.

The Bearcats rank 116th in rushing success rate on the defensive end. For comparison, Cincinnati’s defense is 62nd in dropback success rate.

Sanders has thrown for 2,268 passing yards and 19 touchdowns this season. Keeping him in check could go a long way in helping Cincinnati stay within a touchdown.

Feed Corey Kiner

Another way to limit the damage from Sanders and Co. is to keep Colorado’s explosive offense off the field. Cincinnati can do that by leaning on running back Corey Kiner, who had 22 carries for 102 yards in his last game.

Kiner’s rushing prop is trading at 92.5, suggesting that he’ll be a focal point of the game plan again on Saturday. A more run-focused game will benefit the Bearcats’ chances of covering this spread.

Isaiah Augustave Over 39.5 rushing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’ve been burned by believing in a Colorado running back, but Augustave should clear 40 rushing yards against Cincinnati on Saturday.

Augustave did that last weekend, recording 53 yards and one touchdown on 14 attempts. He nearly cleared this mark with 39 yards on four carries against UCF a month ago.

This rushing total opened at 35.5 and was bet up to 39.5 within an hour by the market. I like chasing the steam at 39.5 or better before kickoff, especially since I project him to flirt with 50 yards against Cincinnati.
