Two Big 12 foes battle each other when the BYU Cougars face off against the Colorado Buffaloes in tonight's Alamo Bowl. Kickoff for the intraconference bowl clash is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC).
Our BYU vs. Colorado prediction, a part of our college bowl game predictions this week, expects the Buffaloes' star power to make the difference. Both quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy odds winner Travis Hunter will suit up at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Our college football betting sites list the Cougars as 3-point underdogs, despite being at full strength for the postseason showdown.

Bowl season has been electric thus far, and Saturday's slate offers up a handful of must-see matchups, but none are more exciting than what BYU QB Jake Retzlaff has dubbed "."
Both programs have almost all their starters set to play, and Colorado covering will depend on how its defense shows up against Retzlaff and Co. While the Cougars have had an impressive year, the offense has lacked consistency - it's just 38th in .
Over BYU's final four games, it averaged only 22 points per game and without a star running back, it could struggle against the Buffaloes. Led by Hunter, Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig, and B.J. Green II, Colorado's defense is 24th in and should be able to slow Retzlaff enough for the offense to do the rest.
Sanders to Hunter one last time
With Sanders confirming that his son and Hunter will play, it's hard to imagine Colorado's offense being slowed, even by a strong BYU defense. The Buffaloes' passing attack has far too many weapons that can benefit from BYU likely hyper-focusing on slowing down Hunter.
Alongside Hunter, Colorado has LaJohntay Wester, Will Sheppard, Drelon Miller, and potentially Jimmy Horn Jr. at the disposal of Sanders, who has a better than 103.0 NFL QB rating when targeting those five this season, per .
Thanks to all his weapons, Sanders has the Buffaloes ranked 18th in SP+ on offense and scoring the 21st-most points in the country (34.5). If Sanders can light up the scoreboard enough, the Buffs should cover and turn a $10 bet into a $9.26 profit.

It's safe to assume that Deion would love for Shedeur to go out with a bang in his final game at Colorado. That's why I'd expect a pass-heavy approach for the Buffaloes, especially with lead running back Isaiah Augustave banged up.
This prop at FanDuel is a great value, too, with our other best sports betting sites having the line set at 323.5 and priced at -117. So not only are we getting a better line here, but we're also catching a better price with a $10 winning bet paying an $8.77 profit.
Sanders leads the 2025 NFL Draft odds for a reason. He's been among the best QBs in college football this season - he's the only QB who ranks in the top 10 in big-time throws with fewer than 11 turnover-worthy plays. Sanders has thrown for 319-plus yards six times this season and will be positioned to again.

Despite having a worse record over the course of the season, Colorado opened up as a 2.5-point favorite in the Alamo Bowl. 75% of spread and 91% of moneyline wagers at BetMGM have been on Coach Prime and the Buffaloes. As such, Colorado has climbed to a field-goal favorite over BYU ahead of kickoff.
