Residents of Delaware and Missouri are in the same boat - neither has access to our best sports betting sites. However, there's some exciting news on the horizon for sports fans in both states.

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) operator PrizePicks is set to launch its peer-to-peer fantasy sports contest, Arena, in two more states. A recent announced that the operator has received approval from the Missouri Gaming Commission and the Delaware Division of Gaming Enforcement, along with the Delaware Lottery.

Arena has been approved in every state where it has sought access so far, including Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Adding Delaware and Missouri brings the total number of states where Arena is available to 15.

“We are proud that Arena has been approved in every state where it has been submitted. We’ve seen strong player adoption to date and we look forward to replicating our success in these new markets with a fun gaming experience,” said PrizePicks CEO Mike Ybarra in the press release. “We’d like to extend our gratitude to the Delaware Division of Gaming Enforcement, the Delaware Lottery, and the Missouri Gaming Commission for their thoughtful collaboration.”

While PrizePicks did not announce an official launch date, a recent post on indicates that the launch details will be revealed next week.

What is Arena?

First launched in January 2024, Arena allows users to place between two and six picks on player projections, similar to standard PrizePicks contests. However, the key difference lies in its peer-to-peer format, where players compete against others in groups with the same entry fee, number of lineups, and experience level. Since its inception, Arena players have built over 20 million peer-to-peer lineups.

The game has varying age requirements depending on the state. Most states allow participation for players aged 18 and older, but the minimum age is set at 19 in Alabama and Colorado, while players in Arizona and Massachusetts must be at least 21.

This summer, PrizePicks introduced another fantasy game called Streak in 13 jurisdictions. Players must make daily player projections to build a streak of correct picks, with a top prize available for those who correctly predict 32 outcomes in a row.

Bypassing state regulations

Since users compete with others rather than the house, Arena can comply with various state definitions of acceptable gambling. The game can also launch in states that have yet to legalize sports betting or do not permit games of skill. For instance, after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) last year, PrizePicks made a successful return to the state in April with Arena.

While sports betting is not legal in Alabama, Alaska, and Missouri, Arena has received approval to operate in these states. However, the game could soon face further competition in Missouri, as voters will decide whether to legalize sports betting in less than two weeks. Amendment 2 on the November 5 ballot would allow both retail and online Missouri sports betting. If approved, the Show-Me State would become the 39th U.S. state with some form of legal sports betting.
