Kansas isn't home to just our best sports betting sites, but it also has a flourishing casino industry.

Kansas’ four commercial casinos collected $35.3 million in revenue last month, according to a new  ;from the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission (KRGC). This total marks a 12.2% increase from last November, when they collected $31.4 million. All four venues reported year-over-year revenue growth.

The casinos ranked in the exact same order as last November, with Hollywood Casino taking the top spot. This casino generated $14.2 million in revenue, around 40% of the statewide total, and also reported the largest year-on-year increase of 14.6%.

The latest figures take the 2025 fiscal year-to-date revenue above $170.6 million, up 4.5% from the same point last year. FY 2025 began in July 2024 and runs through June 2025.

Where does the revenue go?

The four casinos keep 73% of the monthly revenue, which amounts to around $25.7 million for November 2024. But what happens to the rest of the profits? State law requires the casinos to pay a minimum 27% tax rate on their revenues, including 22% for the state, 3% for local communities and 2% to support the problem gambling and addictions grant fund.

Kansas gambling options

The Kansas legislature passed the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act in 2007, enabling a destination casino resort to open in four gaming zones across the state – northeast (Hollywood), southeast (Kansas Crossing), south-central (Kansas Star), and southwest (Boot Hill). Boot Hill Casino and Resort was the first of these to open its doors in December 2009.

Each venue offers a mix of electronic gaming machines (otherwise known as slots) and table games such as blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. In November, slots dominated, accounting for $30.8 million of the monthly revenue total. Meanwhile, table games contributed $4.5 million. The state has yet to legalize such gambling at online casinos.

However, residents can enjoy Kansas sports betting at four retail locations and six online sportsbooks, including DraftKings, FanDuel, ESPN BET, BetMGM, Caesars, and Fanatics, which was the latest to launch in March 2024. In November, these operators collected a record-breaking $25.5 million in revenue.
