For many states, November has been a gold star month for our best sports betting sites. That trend continued for Kansas.

A new from the Kansas Lottery reveals that the state’s online and retail sportsbooks collected a record-breaking $25.5 million in revenue in November from a $291.0 million handle, which also set a new all-time high.

The handle was up around 5.5% monthly compared to the $275.9 million wagered in October. However, Kansas sports betting revenue increased much more significantly. From less than $5.0 million in October, revenue surged by approximately 412.2%.

Kansas sports betting apps dominated, collecting a $279.0 million handle and $24.7 million in revenue. The four retail sports betting operators saw a $12.0 million handle and revenues of $873,172.

Fanatics acquisition drives new handle record

The handle rose by around 11.5% year-on-year from the $260.9 million spent last November. Online wagers increased by 10.9% year-over-year, with five of the six online sportsbooks available in Kansas reporting higher handles compared to the previous November. Meanwhile, ESPN BET, which previously operated as Barstool Sportsbook, reported a 42.6% drop in wagering.

Fanatics led the year-over-year growth, reporting a 246.8% increase in wagers at almost $12.6 million, compared to $3.6 million in November 2023, when it operated as PointsBet Sportsbook. In April of this year, Fanatics Betting and Gaming completed its $225 million acquisition of PointsBet’s US business, moving all its customers to the Fanatics Sportsbook.

In such an intensely competitive market, it's important for operators to offer attractive Kansas sportsbook promos.

Betting up during NFL season

The previous revenue record was just over $20.0 million, generated in December 2023 from a $259.7 million handle. Kansas’ monthly sports betting handle stayed above $200 million until April 2024. Following this, the next time the state saw a handle above $200 million was in September, the first month of the 2024-25 NFL regular season.

The state reported a 69.3% surge in sports betting handle in September, at almost $249 million, compared to $147 million in August. The NFL is a busy time of year for US sports betting operators.
