Tonga's George Moala has lodged an appeal against the decision of the independent Judicial Committee on 18 August, 2023 to issue a suspension of five matches for the red card he received for an offence contrary to Law 9.18 (lifting tackle) during the test match between Tonga and Canada on 10 August.
The player will attend a hearing via video conference before an independent Appeal Committee consisting of Christopher Quinlan KC, independent Judicial Panel Chairman, joined by Brenda Heather-Latu (Samoa) and Mike Mika (New Zealand).
The hearing will take place on 24 August, 2023.
