Top 3 legal Connecticut sports betting apps reviewed
According to Connecticut's law, the state can only have three sports betting apps in operation. FanDuel and DraftKings can run thanks to their affiliations with the Mohegan Tribe and Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, respectively.
Meanwhile, Fanatics Sportsbook operates based on the agreement with the Connecticut Lottery. Fanatics took over for SugarHouse, which was partnered with the state lottery until late 2023.
As for the other two, FanDuel and DraftKings are considered among the best sportsbooks in the country. For our money, DraftKings ranks marginally better in Connecticut, based on our in-depth analysis.
1. DraftKings Connecticut sports betting app 👑
The DraftKings app performs well on all fronts. From the best-valued welcome bonus offering a promo on initial qualifying bets of $5 or more, to outstanding in-game options (especially in the micro-betting area), there's a lot to like.
DraftKings also features interactive pools, where users try to make as many correct picks as possible to get a share of the prize. The Stats Hub is also a standout feature, as it offers bettors a way to make more knowledgeable bets by checking various statistics, like letting them in on how a given team has performed against the spread or how well they’re doing lately in away games.

The FanDuel sports betting app may trail DraftKings on this mini-list, but it's still regarded as the best in layout, navigation, and overall performance.
FanDuel currently boasts a fun, chance-based welcome bonus, giving you a offer. You won't need a FanDuel promo code to activate this bonus. All you need to do is deposit at least $5 and place your first wager of $5 or more. If you win, you'll receive $150 in bonus bets.

3. Fanatics Connecticut sports betting app 🧢
Fanatics is new on the CT scene, replacing SugarHouse as the partner for the Connecticut Lottery in December 2023. However, with the backing of a massive sports merchandise parent company, Fanatics is looking to make a huge splash in the legalized betting industry.
Fanatics Sportsbook is a mobile-only product for now. So, you'll have to download the iOS or Android app to get started. If you previously had a Fanatics Apparel account, you can use the same login credentials without having to create another new account.
New users can claim up to $1,000 in bonuses after signing up. To take full advantage, users must wager $100 for 10 days. If any of their bets lose, users will be awarded bonus bets equal to the amount they wagered and lost.
All users also have access to the FanCash Rewards program, a unique loyalty scheme that offers a percentage of every bet made back as FanCash, which can then be used to buy team merchandise or exchange for bonus bets. Best of all, you don't need a Fanatics Sportsbook promo code to sign up.

How to get started with Connecticut sports betting apps
You can begin using Connecticut sports betting apps in less than a few minutes, but your path will differ based on your device’s make and model. The good news is that all CT betting apps have dedicated iOS and Android versions, making it simple no matter what kind of smartphone or tablet you have.
How to download Connecticut sports betting apps
First, ensure that you have enough storage and that your device meets the minimum requirements. From there, visit your app store or find download links on the sportsbook’s website.
Here are the detailed instructions on installing CT sportsbook apps for Android and iOS.
iOS Connecticut betting apps
- Find the link to the App Store on the sportsbook’s website (usually in the footer area) or go directly to the App Store itself.
- Search for the sportsbook you want to download, either FanDuel, DraftKings, or Fanatics.
- Check file size and system requirements. Tap "Get" to start the download and install.
- Once finished, tap the app's icon to launch it. Sign up for an account and enjoy.
Android Connecticut betting apps
- Find the Android icon on the sportsbook’s website or visit the Google Play Store.
- Search for the sportsbook you want to download.
- Ensure you have enough space and the latest version of the Android operating system.
- Tap "Install" to initiate the download process.
- When the app has finished installing, open it up and register an account.
How to use Connecticut betting apps
Downloading and installing the best betting apps in Connecticut is just the first step. Here’s how the whole process works, from picking a betting app to withdrawing your winnings.
1. Choose a sports betting app
Since Connecticut only allows for three betting apps, you don't need to think much about which one to choose. Pick DraftKings, FanDuel, or Fanatics — there are no bad choices here — or just register with all three. It’s perfectly legal and will allow you to switch between the apps whenever you want to find better pricing or claim specific promotions.
2. Sign up
Register in minutes by sharing standard personal details like your name, address, birthdate, email address, last four digits of your social security number, and other required info. The main requirement is to be at least 21 years old and physically present in Connecticut when placing bets.
3. Deposit
Go to the app’s "Cashier" section and deposit using Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Play+ cards, ACH bank wire, or any other accepted method. Most transactions are completed almost immediately. Minimum deposit limits are usually $10 but can vary between sportsbooks and payment methods.
4. Place your bet
Browse the app’s betting markets, typically divided by league or competitions. If you can't find what you're looking for right away, use the search function to find the exact team, player, or event you're interested in.
Tap the odds you like, and your selection will be added to the bet slip. Once you finish, enter the amount you want to wager (keep your welcome bonus in mind) and tap "Place Bet" to confirm it.
5. Collect the bonus
Check the terms and conditions for claiming the welcome offer. These usually require a minimum deposit and a qualifying wager (often with certain odds restrictions). If unlocking the welcome bonus requires a promo code, you’ll find it in our table above. None of the three CT betting apps currently use a promo code.
6. Withdraw
Head back to the Cashier section to request a withdrawal. Pick your preferred payment method, type in how much you want to cash out, and submit the request. The sportsbook may take a few days to review and process your request before sending the money via your chosen method.
Remember that bonus bets earned via a welcome offer cannot be withdrawn as cash. You can only use them to make additional wagers.
Sports available on Connecticut betting apps
Football 🏈
Like the rest of the country, football receives the most attention among CT sports fans. Therefore, the football betting options on Connecticut betting apps are extensive, featuring many props and Super Bowl specials. Of course, the main NFL betting markets, like the moneyline, spread, and totals, are also present. See our NFL picks for regular tips on the best value bets.
Basketball 🏀
Basketball is also quite popular among Connecticut bettors. The main markets are the moneyline, the point spread, and totals. Beyond that, many bettors like experimenting with specific props like individual quarter betting and player point totals.
The betting markets are most extensive for the NBA. However, you can also bet on the WNBA (including Connecticut Sun games), NCAA college basketball, and many international leagues and tournaments. We have you covered every season with NBA picks and NCAA basketball picks.
Hockey 🏒
You can bet on the NHL regular season and playoffs as well as international leagues and enjoy a vast market range, headlined by moneyline, 60-minute moneyline, puck line, and totals. Hockey is also ripe with prop bets, like Over/Under blocked shot totals or total penalty minutes. Our NHL picks section is a great place to get started.
Baseball ⚾
MLB is another league people love betting on, featuring many exciting markets. There are the traditional moneyline and spread bets, plus a grand slam of unique props like pitcher strikeout totals or a specific slugger hitting a home run. Head over to our MLB picks for expert analysis and betting tips.
Soccer ⚽
From MLS to top European leagues like UEFA Champions League, the English Premier League, Serie A, or La Liga, the top CT betting apps offer an overwhelming amount of soccer events to bet on. Not only that but FD and DK are two of the best soccer betting sites you can use. We have regular soccer picks all year long.
Tennis 🎾
Tennis betting is active throughout the calendar year. Of course, most attention is given to the four Grand Slam majors, but you can also find a vast market selection on all notable ATP and WTA events around the globe.
Golf ⛳
You can find a broad selection of golf betting options on Connecticut betting apps, from smaller PGA events to any of the four Majors. You can bet on tournament winners, top 10 finishers, H2H matchups, and more. You can find expert golf betting tips in our other sports picks section.
Other sports 🥊
There are many other sports you can bet on, including boxing, MMA, Formula 1, snooker, cricket, table tennis, lacrosse, rugby, volleyball, and more. FanDuel and DraftKings each have more than 20 different sports betting markets, giving bettors the most choice possible.
Connecticut sports teams to bet on
Connecticut’s only major league team is the Connecticut Sun (WNBA). The state is home to many pro teams competing in lower-tier competitions, like the USL's Hartford Athletic, or development leagues tied to pro leagues, like the Westchester Knicks. However, you won't always find these markets available for betting.
You can bet on the UConn Huskies and other Division I schools in CT, but only in major tournaments like March Madness. Otherwise, betting on in-state college teams is prohibited in Connecticut. You can still bet on out-of-state college sports action, though.
UConn Huskies 🎓
The UConn Huskies are a set of 24 different varsity teams representing the University of Connecticut. They are most competitive at football and men’s and women’s basketball, belonging to the Big East Conference of NCAA’s Division I. The Huskies have won five men’s and 11 women’s NCAA basketball championships, all in the last 30 years.
Red Sox and Yankees ⚾
Connecticut might not be big enough to support an MLB team of its own, but it sits smack-dab in the middle of perhaps the fiercest rivalry in all of baseball. The Boston Red Sox play a few hours Northeast in neighboring Massachusetts, and the New York Yankees are a couple of hours away in the other direction. Baseball fans in Connecticut tend to gravitate towards one or the other — but never both.
How to choose the best Connecticut sports betting app
Even though there are only a couple of betting apps to choose from, you should still compare them and decide which is your go-to sportsbook in Connecticut. Here are some factors to consider:
User experience
The app should perform without a hitch, helping you smoothly and quickly browse the markets and place desired bets.
Interface
A clutter-free app interface enables seamless navigation and allows you to reach specific markets with a few taps.
Features
Features like push notifications and Face or Touch ID logins are the hallmarks of modern sports betting apps, while things like bet builders, data hubs, and live streaming also go a long way in making things more convenient and engaging.
Bet types
Market variety is another crucial consideration, especially if you like exploring various proposition bets. Both FanDuel and DraftKings excel in this area. It shouldn't be surprising that they both made our list of the top NFL prop betting sites.
Payout speed
The payout speed will mostly depend on the withdrawal method. However, sportsbooks may take time to review your request before sending money. Most withdrawals take between 24-28 hours. Luckily for CT bettors, FD and DK are among the fastest payout sportsbooks.
Banking options
Before picking a sportsbook, make sure it accepts your desired payment method. Since both DraftKings and FanDuel operate retail sportsbooks in Connecticut, you can also make in-person deposits and withdrawals at their brick-and-mortar locations.
Registering an account
Registration is relatively standard across all licensed U.S. sportsbooks, although account verification procedures may differ slightly. If you’re at least 21 and physically inside CT borders, you shouldn’t have issues creating an account with Connecticut sports betting apps.
Importance of multiple apps and line shopping
Top-tier sportsbooks strive to maintain a delicate balance between ensuring they have an edge and trying to provide customers with good odds. The odds and lines can differ between the books, and finding which betting app has the best pricing for a particular market is a core objective of any sharp bettor. It's one of the keys to effective bankroll management.
Register with as many betting apps as possible if you want to take advantage of the best odds. Connecticut boasts a limited number of sportsbooks, making odds shopping easier. If you want to bet on the New England Patriots to make the playoffs, just compare the odds between FanDuel and DraftKings and take the best price.
Watch for frequent odds boosts or other potentially profitable promotions as you switch from book to book. Both FanDuel and DraftKings regularly offer boosted odds on football parlays, earning them a spot on the best NFL same-game parlay betting sites.
Connecticut sports betting apps rules and regulations
Connecticut sports betting was launched in the fall of 2021 under specific regulations. Namely, gambling operations in the Nutmeg State are split between the CT Lottery and two tribal casinos, including the Foxwoods Casino, operated by Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, and the Mohegan Sun, managed by the Mohegan Tribe.
Each entity was allowed to license a single betting app, limiting the number of available betting apps in Connecticut to three. Mohegan went with FanDuel, DraftKings received a license from Foxwoods, and CT Lottery signed a deal with SugarHouse (terminated in 2023). Fanatics Sportsbook took over for SugarHouse in December 2023.
The Gaming Division of the Connecticut State Department of Consumer Protection oversees all gambling activities. The minimum age for sports betting is 21, remote registration is allowed, and using the apps is only available if you’re within state lines.
There are also specifics relating to betting on local college teams. The only way to bet on a local school is if they’re participating in an interstate tournament that features four or more teams. Also, you can’t bet on individual games but rather on the outcome of the entire event.
Betting on horse or greyhound racing in these sportsbooks is also forbidden in Connecticut. However, you can still use BetAmerica, TVG, or TwinSpires to bet on horse racing across America.
Finally, esports wagering is allowed in Connecticut.
